I know there are alternatives to glossy Solarfilm from other manufacturers, but is there anything available that is a good substitute for Solartex? I'm planning to build a biplane this year and want to simulate non-glossy fabric.

Oratex appears to be similar to Solartex although I haven't seen it IRL.

It's more expensive though.

Do you have a particular biplane in mind?

I have the plan and wood pack for the Dennis Bryant Tiger Moth - 5th scale, 66 inch span. I expect it's going to take me several months to build it, but I'm in no rush. I need to spend a lot of time flying other models to improve my piloting so that I'm confident and capable enough to fly the Tiger Moth.

Perhaps I'll have to get used to the smell of cellulose dope again and cover it with nylon.

Thanks John. I just bought the last 2M of white. They do have some left but only in non-neutral colours. I'm not sure how easy it would be to paint over those to get lighter final colours.

Just called Steve Webb models. They do have "plenty in stock" at present - including Natural.
