Hello As of today I am looking for a pre-owned low wing sport aeroplane 50-65 inch span for IC power (40 - 60 2 stroke). This morning my incompetence on the sticks led to my latest aircraft of this class having its wing broken in two, and the fuselage into a significantly larger number of pieces. Having had a look at it this evening I think it is potentially repairable - afterall many full-size Spitfires have been rebuilt from just the data plate. However, restoration to flyable condition may take some time(!) and I am looking for a quicker option. So if anyone has a retired IC aeroplane they want to sell, please let me know. (And no, I'm still not ready to go electric - yet). Best wishes Cliff Edited by CliffW, May 25 2018, 10:41 PM.

Today's better news is that the foam-veneered wing that was in two pieces is once again a single component. Adhesives currently being left to fully set overnight. It will then need sanding and part re-covering. The fuselage should go back together after some surgery to fit extra doublers across the failure points. The radio will need re-installing from scratch. All do-able, but will take awhile. Cliff Edited by CliffW, May 28 2018, 08:27 PM.

Depending where the wing broke it might be worth installing a brace across the join. Also balancing the wing laterally would be a good idea if you are doing aerobatics. |

On re-balancing The repair is to the starboard wing. This afternoon I re-balanced the wing laterally by pushing small nails (about twice the diameter of panel pins) into the balsa block tip of the port wing. It took 12 nails to balance the repair. |

Fuselage main structure now restored to the extent that lifting by the nose also lifts the tail - and wings and fuselage now bolt together. So good progress being made. |
