You may recall previous posts about my Rockstar motor stopping and Rx switching off resulting in an uncontrolled oak tree landing.

The model was recovered with very minor damage and, as I thought, one of the battery connectors had become detached. Plugging it back in showed that connector had little friction. The connectors I use (3.5mm bullets) have a small sprung frame around the male which had lost all its "spring". I replaced it with another frame and all secure again.

I imagine that when I replaced the battery hatch it displaced this connector but still allowed current to flow. With the reduced contact area this resulted in heating which finished off the "spring" in the frame, high "G" forces did the rest.
