I noticed one of my 35Mhz transmitters was not holding its charge very well so decided to take a look at the battery pack. The dreaded black wire corrosion , or -ve terminal corrosion had been doing its silent work. I had real problems disconnecting it and even then had to take the transmitter apart to clean the contacts. It had been in for 5 years . So I decided to check another Transmitter and yep same problem again although not so bad , but clear signs of corrosion. So 2 new battery packs have been installed. If you are still using nicads in 35Mhz transmitters I would suggest you check the connection visually every year . I have not heard of it occuring with Lipo batteries , has anyone else ? |

Its not just the negative side, positive side also, spreads along the wires. A visual check of the gold connectors can show it up as they lose their bright shiny appearance and infected wires feel slightly stiff compared to aclean wire of the same guage. |

Not noticed in LiPos, it seems related to the chemistry of Nicads, not noticed it in NiMh so probably the cadmium. |
