He also wears white athletic tape around his wrists, and sometimes writes 718 on the inside of his left wrist, the area code for Hillcrest. As alternates he also has... * Blue attire with orange trim and lettering, aka the colours of the New York Mets * Red attire with white trim and lettering, with the lettering looking as close to the Coca-Cola logo you can get without being sued * Blue attire with white trim and lettering, reflecting his heritage When making his way to the ring, Karma wears a black sequin ring jacket and a pair of dark sunglasses to show off just how darned cool he is while dazzling the fans in attendance with his sense of style and class. For some occasions, Karma will wear an extra-special jacket with LED letters spelling out "KARMA" across his back that flashes in multiple colours. When he's not in the ring, Karma's usual attire is a crisp white short-sleeved shirt paired with either a waistcoat or a sports coat, a pair of jeans, and a pair of black Converse All-Stars. He'll sometimes wear an NY Mets track jacket or polo shirt if the show is in or around NYC. Cherry's usual attire is a Ramones t-shirt cut off at the waist, a pair of scuffed boot cut jeans or a black plaid skirt, a pair of black Converse All-Star trainers, and her dyed-red hair usually tied into pigtails - although sometimes she will have black streaks dyed into it Ring Entrance:
Championship Entrance:
CHARACTER BACKGROUND Picbase: Eli Drake (aka Slate Randall/Shaun Ricker) Manager: Cherry Baum (Picbase: Scarlett Bordeaux) Gimmick: Loudmouthed, self-absorbed Old School purist who somehow became the heart and soul of Frontier Wrestling Arts Strengths: 1. Wrestling Brain: Karma is smart and efficient when he's in the ring, and his quick thinking allows him to counter or evade his opponents' maneuvers at the best possible moment for him to take advantage. 2. Resilient: Karma has always had opponents overlook or underrate him, be it when he was starting out at the bottom of the card or as he rose through the ranks to his current place on the roster, but time and again he's proven he can take his opponent's best shots and keep coming. 3. Big Match Mentality: When the stakes are at their highest, Karma can find another gear. Weaknesses: 1. Insecurity: Karma may be extremely confident, but there are times where things don't go the way that he had hoped and he doubts himself to the point of being barely able to perform. 2. Lone Wolf: As has happened more times than he'd like to admit, Karma has found himself outnumbered and outgunned, yet he adopts the mentality that he needs to overcome the odds himself - and this has cost him many times. 3. Armed & Dangerous: A lot of Karma's signature maneuvers, notably Hard Times, Deep Karma and Instant Karma, require the opponent's arm to be worn down enough to give Karma that split second needed to get the opponent where he wants them - so if the opponent has done a good job protecting their arm, they have a better chance of countering the attempt. Taunts/Mannerisms: 1. If he's facing an opponent who has got under his skin, Sugar Ray Karma consists of a left jab followed by an almost immediate right hook 2. When aiming to hit From The Stars Above, Karma will literally point to the stars above Bio: There was a time a few years ago where the fans of FWA were asking "Who is Johnny Karma?", because they were either ignorant or merely complacent with what was being served up to them - while a few of them were spouting some interweb mumbo jumbo about him looking remarkably like some cookie cutter indie wrestler named John Carmichael who mysteriously vanished from the NYC wrestling scene at the same time that Johnny Karma first strutted into the ring and rocked the world of everyone who saw him. Anyone who brings this ludicrous theory up to Karma will receive a swift dressing down for parroting such unsubstantiated nonsense. What is known about his early days is that it was like he stepped out of a time machine built in 1978 to teach his opponents the one thing they clearly knew nothing about: wrestling. In a world where flips and twists and whirling twirlixers are the norm, Karma took a stand to demonstrate that any hack can copy the "cool" moves from a Japanese or Mexican compilation tape, but that will never be superior with a superior talent when it comes to actually knowing how to wrestle. And with him swiftly dominating the NYC indies, this is how Karma came onto FWA's radar in 2013, and walked through the door with a confidence and a swagger of someone who knows they truly belong. On his path to FWA, Karma picked up a colleague and confidante in the shape of Cherry Baum, Karma's #1 Fan who is both his muse and that little extra boost at ringside who will take Karma to victory, who also aids Karma as the editor of his weekly show, Karmic TV. Since making his debut, Karma has proven he is more than capable in the ring and on the microphone when going against just about anybody. At first he was a little brash, plenty cocky, and often at the risk of biting off more than he could chew, although a head-turning performance in the very-first Gold Rush Rumble indicated that maybe there was something there to back up his bravado, something confirmed when he defeated Chris Bond to lift the Pride Championship a few months after he made his debut As he became more established on the roster, Karma came into his own and proved that he belonged on the roster, proving himself against all comers as he slowly but surely moved up the ranks, until he came up short in his first-ever match for the FWA Championship at 2015: A New Odyssey, a result which saw him question himself as he had felt he was well within a shot of winning that match However, the biggest change to Karma's career came later that year when he turned over a new leaf, as he couldn't stand by and allow the company to be overrun with wrestlers who would stoop to lower and lower depths to succeed, and he decided he would prove that the high road would win out - a move which, rather than see him fail horribly, actually led to his ascension into the upper echelon of the company, although one thing still eludes him: the title.
