Work, Work, Work In Progress I've been jumping around a lot. That's a given. For that, I'm a little sorry. Let me do a bit of explaining to my madness though. I have wanted to do a 'spiritual successor' to Magica (an old fantasy forum RPG I ran almost a decade ago). Magica was far from perfect, honestly it had a stat system and leveling system that had no real structure behind it. Now, being older I want to resurrect the fun of doing a Play-by-post forum RPG with friends however with a structure behind it. The issue was every time I was basically trying to recreate Magica with just a different title. NO LONGER! I've purposely distanced myself from the fantasy world of Magica by using HOMEBOUND as that scapegoat. What makes HOMEBOUND so special is that it's world is so unique to anything I've done as of yet. The setting of HOMEBOUND is basically a world - much like Earth - has been destroyed because some idiot was playing with portals between worlds when he shouldn't of been. However, in this time frame we also opened portals to worlds with friendly alien races as well, inviting them to "Earth". In the wake of the destruction all the ally races banded together and helped rebuild the earth, combining architecture from several different races with varying levels of technological advancements. This brings in a blend of really cool fantasy elements and sci-fi elements, really opening the door to allow this game to really go anywhere. I have ideas of what I want to do and where I want to take it, however I'm not going to spoil them quite yet. ![]() The Foreseeable Future What can we expect from HOMEBOUND and what can we expect from the release of it? Well, first off I'll try and release these news postings somewhat frequently, maybe one every week just to inform everyone about incoming changes until I get the game in a place where I'm really happy with it and can have stable regular content releases and events. Until then I'll be releasing updates in a format of a sort of "State of the Game" where I'll cover what's going on in the development process and what I've got in mind for the short (and sometimes long term) future. For now the game will be playable from a VERY early stage. I'm talking like, maybe one quest to start and some areas to explore. It'll be like "early development", if I can find an award/achievement system, I may implement that so I can give out awards to those who've stuck by the game and have kept from pulling their hair's out as I worked to find the right fit for it. Every week or so in these reports I'll drop some new stuff to add to the game, maybe a new set of gear and some quests. Early players will be able to go back and always complete these new things that have been added. Eventually content will get to a point where I'll mark it as the "end" of vanilla release. The game may stagnate at that point for a bit, maybe have an event or two here and there. Then I plan to do a BIG release known as "expansions" and it'll add whole new areas and be a big content dump. From there I'll do two smaller releases to go hand in hand with the "expansion" then move on to the next expansion. Expansions will act as a next chapter for the story campaign, carrying the story forward, along with content. This Week In HOMEBOUND Now that I've covered what you can expect from the game going forward, I'll cover what I plan on having done this week. This week I'd like to have the forum completed, with all sections and headings fully done and have a lot of basics filled out, this could mean the game is ready to be run this week or perhaps early next week. Here's a list of what you can expect to see done this week (Before the end of Sunday the 18th).
Anyways, that's all for now folks! Look forward to hearing from all of you and hopefully getting your adventure's up and running soon! Ghosty, out! Edited by Ghosty, Feb 16 2018, 12:27 AM.
