Fairy Tail Battledome guide I. Introduction First off welcome to this sub-forum of the Fairy Tail Battledome. This is a manga-based Tournament Battledome in which participants choose characters to make up their team and face off with other participants. As the description reads: Come here to compete with other players, with you as the strategist of your dream team of Mages. II. Types of Threads a. Practice Matches Practice Matches are matches you and your opponent have for fun or have to test out a team or character. During a Main Tournament, I'm going to limit the number of practice matches to 2. Otherwise, any number of practice matches are okay: but don't get crazy. It's an unwritten rule that 4 practice matches should be the maximum in this case. Please request practice matches at the Sparring Match Thread b. Tournament Matches Tournament Matches are any matches apart of a tournament whether it is a main tournament or a side tournament. These matches are competitive and always have a decisive winner. c. Discussion Thread There will always be a Tournament Discussion Thread stickied. This thread will be to discuss an on-going or a future tournament(s). All questions regarding this sub-forum may be directed here. Just to note, the BD Conversation Thread is in the main section of the Zoro's Dojo. All regular conversation posts may be posted there. This uniformity will be enforced by myself, and need not concern anyone else. If you'd like to try to keep to it, then please do. Tournament thread titles will also be changed to include the final scores in the case of finished threads. |

Tournament Registration Spoiler: click to toggle Voting Rules 1. Clearly declare your vote on a free line in a bold typeface or large font, e.g. Vote: Commander Neg. 2. Post along with your vote a brief justification. Show evidence that you’ve read both strategies (but not necessarily rebuttals) and have thought about how they compare. If you don’t give reasoning that proves you’ve read both strategies, your vote won’t count. 3. If you’re using an anonymous proxy server to hide your IP your vote may not be allowed. You do not need a particular post count to vote, but the IS moderators and Tournament staff have to be comfortable that you’re an original account. 4. Everyone’s vote is equal and you may only vote for one contestant in each match. You may change your vote before the end of the match: to do so, edit your original post to remove the vote, and then make a new post for your new vote. 5. There is no minimum vote requirement for each match. Contestant Rules 1. Post your strategy within 48 hours of the match being posted, and as soon as you can. This is your only chance to tell your team what to do. If your opponent has not yet posted his/her strategy, you are allowed to make minor changes to grammar and format - nothing to do with the core strategy. 2. You may debate as much as you want after posting your strategy by posting in your match. You may critique the opponent’s strategy and debate votes, and you’re advised to answer questions from potential voters. 3. Do not beg or bribe for votes from anyone – this may result in disqualification. You’re also advised not to direct people unaffiliated with the Tournament but personally close to you to your match, as they may be biased towards you. 4. Be aware that a voter does not need to defend their vote under questioning. Locations and Distances There are three starting distances: Short, Medium and Long. Short This distance is the closest starting range between contestants. There is line of sight at Short starting distance in every location. It's outside of the range of Natsu's Dash, but said dash would cover most of the distance. This distance leaves the possibility of a blitz, but it's not an automatic win. Clear eye contact at this range is probably debatable. Short distance is a little more than this range but definitely closer than this one. Medium This is almost twice the Short starting distance. There is line of sight at Medium starting distance in most locations. blitz strategies are too far away, but too many opening moves is asking too much against a team fast to engage. This is probably also the longest range that most 'long range' attacks can reach (with some notable exceptions). Clear eye contact is a no. Long This is almost twice the Medium starting distance. There is line of sight at Long starting distance in some locations, but it's too far apart to see much detail. There's plenty of space to allow all sorts of opening moves, but most attacks won't reach at first. Clear eye contact is definitely a no. This starting distance has probably never been seen in the actual manga. Locations Spoiler: click to toggle
