THE 21ST NOVA CORPS
ORIGINS
The 21st Nova Corps or Galactic Marines is an elite marine force designed to operate in the theater of intense battlefield engagements, siege-type warfare and as an advanced infantry unit to support quick reactions against enemy operations. In its hay day the 21st served as one of the Galactic Republic's most decorated clone legions, having served on a variety of fronts until their most demanding duty called during the Battle of Mygeeto when Order 66 was issued. During its period of service during the Clone Wars the 21's charismatic commander Bacara carved a reputation for the Nova Corps as a force capable of operating in environments both orbital and planetside, as a combat unit not only capable of going hand to hand with battle droids but also as an advanced boarding force.
It is this fierce reputation that is set to be paralleled by the clones sourced from the DNA template of Wade Fett and-now 21st Nova Corps troopers. With a similar training regimen employed during the Clone Wars, the Nova Corps now stands as a sector wide-force to be called to arms when the First Empire faces its most determined and dug-in foes, for situational demands where Imperial forces are either brought to a stalemate or require a skilled and organised martial force more than able to break the back of an enemy position.

TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT
Impersonal and faceless - the Galactic Marines are the symbol of cold imperial justice delivered to those who would dare to muster resistance against the First Empire. Their foremost professional concern is to see to the absolute demolition of all attempts by foes to raise defences, muster units and organise supply lines with their specialist knowledge of quick assault and close-quarters tactics, offering the Marines the power to strike fast and without warning as much as to employ a similar strategy when facing direct assaults. But in order to build a trooper capable of meeting these in field expectations, a strict training regime has been created by the newly established Cuy'val Dar in which newly bred clones are expected to push their genetic enhancements and natural skills to the limit in psychical courses, training simulations and domestic training operations. Their training schedule is of course true to the style of the Corps' ancestors with phase 1: conditioning, phase 2: underwater and in-space ship boarding, and phase 3: marksmanship. Also effective as a battle component is the culture of belonging inherited from their training instructors, promoting a sense of unit cohesion and critical thinking among troopers - but above all, the conditioning encouraging the marines to observe and plan before they deploy as a unit.
Protocol updates to the intended versatile natures of both the 92nd Legion and the 21st Nova Corps sees the incorporation of training for heavy, demolitions, pilot and recon classes for these combat forces. More specific to the Galactic Marines is the training of Marines in bladed combat as well as a mixture of Echani and martial combat techniques included in their training program. The ceramic Pathfinder-type armour scheme for the 21st Nova Corps is a maroon purple, with the traditional combat arms of the Corps being the DC-15S, DC-15 rifle and WESTAR-M5 blaster rifle.

ORGANISATION
- OPS HQ - OVERLORD - Admiral Arumus Kilstar (Codename: Winterstorm)
- Functions as the sole SUPCOM and ultimate authority of the Corps.
Offered real-time communication to the Corps and its command, along with the insurance of an installed killswitch that when activated should the need arise, triggers an overload in the neural chip that induces an electrical overload of the brain of each trooper in the event the near or entirety of the Corps is compromised.
- OPS SENIOR COM - SENTINEL - Designated Oveers and Moffs (Codename: Varied)
-
- A secret group of Moffs and military staff whether it be in sector
governors or admirals, these officials are trusted to secretly ferry, equip and martial the Corps when they are required for combat duty. These appointed officials are not only sworn to secrecy, but they also employ secret lines of communication and code words that see hundreds of movements regarding the Corps put through but the main executive kept unawares of what truly transpires.
- OPS BASE COM - DISCIPLE - Clone Commanders and Officers (Codename: Varied)
- Ranked from Lieutenant to - Commander, the base command of the
92nd is composed of those bred and selected for leadership as well as the capacity for less moderated independent thinking. This permits the officers not only to display a greater prowess as versatile commanders off and on the field, but also as in-field leaders designed to direct and push the mettle of the men in proving their ability not as elite soldiers but also as ferocious warriors to be reckoned with. NCO staff are also clone troopers - ranks in this tier include private, corporal, sergeant.

ARMOUR DESIGN
HELMET PIECE
The helmet section of the Nova Corps Marine is a cold-assault style overlay with a plastoid topped helm forged with a thin layer of armour weave designed to shield the wearer from blast impacts and guard against the effects of concussion and frag grenades. Featured in the HUD systems of the helmet are a sophisticated communications suite capable of interfacing with a range of systems, environmental sensors, light optics, surveillance options and even a life-signs scanner.
CHEST ARMOUR
A ceramic Echani-style battle armor that has a medium tier defence standard functions as a flexible but extremely durable chestpiece against blasters both light and heavy. The light but honeycomb reinforced armour makes for a comfortable wear in conditions both adverse and suitable, as temperature control and adjustment settings are featured within the HUD to offer the wearer the option of acclimatisation as well as to vacuum seal or compress the armour for either a more disciplined fighting prowess or for combat in open space.
THIGH GUARDS
The thigh guards of the Marine armor are surfaced by straps anchoring weapons holsters for combat knives and blaster weapons, as well as an upper utility belt section offering compartment sections for both rations, MRE meals, explosives and a host of other field-survival tools.
KNEE AND FOOT GUARDS
Adjustable to the size of the wearer, the boots of the armor are not only feature temperature controls but also special humidity controls to guard against foot and temperature induced ailments. Fitted in are also magnetic foot guards capable of clamping the Marine to any unstable environment, as well as a ejectable toe vibroblade capable of piercing or indenting medium tier armor composites. |
