OOC: The first half of this storyline consists of posts and TMs that were not saved. Here's the backstory: The Kazomal people are transitioning from a Oligarchy under the Warders to a new government. Below is the government announcement establishing Interim Constitution: "From the Warder's Office: This day, 02/10/2010, will forever be a joyous one for the Kazomal peole. On this day, we formally announce the dissolution of the Nomadic Peoples of Kazomal, and the concurrent founding of the Commonwealth of Kazomal. The Interim Consitution reads as follows: The Office of the Warders will remain intact and will hold all its current powers untill the new government takes power. The Office of the Warders will within 1 month appoint any number of State Architects, who will determine the structure of the new government. Within 2 months, general elections will be held to elect 2000 "electors," who will function as the guardians of the will of the people. Any preposal or appointment of the State Architects must be approved by the electors by simple majority. Political parties have 1 month to form. Parties must collect a minimum amount of signetures on a petition of membership. That amount is to be set in secret by the Warders, duely recorded, and held in confidence. In the general election, each citizen will get 1 vote within their district which will go towards a "first past the pole" election taking place within each of 1000 districts of equal population. Anyone may campaign, and the ballot will be entirly write-in. These 1000 regional elections will yeild 1000 electors. The other 1000 will come from the parties. In the general election, the voting system for the national party-based election is still in debate, and the decision is hereby placed in the hands of Warder Lindsey Adams. Her voting plan will be announced shortly. Within 1 year, the new government will offically be empowered. This will happen when the State Archetects issue Order Zero, and it is ratified by 1600 electors. This order empowers the new government, as well as officially disbanded the State Archetects, Electors, and Warders. Although the time limit here is set at one year, this task is to be acomplished ASAP. If Order Zero has not been ratified by 02/10/2010, the SAs and Electors are disbanded and all power reverts to the Warders. End Document Now that we are an established nation, we must officially request a piece of land to call our own. To the region of Ixnay, we officially request that we be allowed to settle on the islands above the former All Peoples, or on the Northeast Coast of Ixnay. " Parties formed and campaigned. Several parties, such as the Democratic Socialists, the Trade Unionists, the Libertarian Party, The Kershesh (the political arm of a hyper-nationalistic social movement by the same name), the Conservative Party, and the Populist Party seemed sure to make it on the ballot, while others, including the Unitary Party and several anti-democratic parties were not. The election results were thus annouced: "KNN Broadcast: Election Resuslts!! Two days after the polls closed, the results of Kazomal's first national election in recorded history are in. The names of the 1000 electors that have been chosen in 1000 local elections across Kazomal are in, and can be viewed on KNN's website, www.knn.klm The results of the national election are as followed: Democratic Socialists: 17.1% = 171 electors Trade Unionists: 10.8% = 108 electors Libertarian Party: 14.2% = 142 electors The Kershesh: 16.7% = 167 electors Conservative Party: 9.4% = 94 electors Populist Party: 14.9% = 149 electors Unitary Party: 16.9% = 169 electors These 2000 individuals will hold the power of approval or veto over any proposals from the State Architects, who have been tasked with writing the new Constitution. The Constitution will be written piece by piece, with each section subject to the approval of the Council of Electors. Approved proposals will be added to the "working constitution," which will not come into effect untill the SAs concider it complete and submit Order Zero to the Council of Electors, who, by ratifying it by 1 vote of at least 1600 in favor, officially dissovle the Council of Warders, Council of Electors, and the State Architects, and empower the new Constitution as the law of the land. The deadline for this is 2/10/2011. If Order Zero is not ratified by that date, the Electors and SAs are dissolved, as is the Interim Constitution, and all power reverts to the Warders in order to devise a new process. Across Kazomal, the establishment of democracy is being celebrated in resurants, in bars, in private homes, in offices, in government buildings, in the streets. A day Kazomal will never forget. Whether or not the current parties survive to campaign under the as-yet unwritten Constitution remains to be seen." The Unitary party is a front of Wilford Smalls, who is in collusion with Warder Lindsey Adams to influence the creation of the new constitution and to steal the election. Smalls and Adams got the Unitary party on the ballot through fraud, and rigged the election to give their candidates a greater number of seats in the Conclave of Electors. They have recruited Hashashim Agent Marissa DuPeir to assist them in carrying out their plans. However, their actions have caught the attention of the FoxDen Cabal, a group of senior Hashashim agents who act independently to protect Kazomal. Can the FoxDen Cabal save Kazomal from the threat posed by Smalls, Adams, and DuPeir? Or will the Conspirators successfully hijack the seat of power in Kazomal? The luxury apartment of State Architect Wilford Smalls. Smalls and Warder Lindsey Adams converse. Liao smoke wafts on the air. Smalls: The new constitution is coming along nicely. The Conclave of Electors has approved the majority of our more important items. Strong unitary system. No separation between executive and legislative duties. Weak judiciary. No oversight or checks on soft power. I’ve also been able to manipulate the election rules to a certain degree, so stage 3 should prove simpler. Adams: Good, but we have a security threat we need to deal with. Our agent in the Hashashim has uncovered something disturbing. We’re being investigated, by something called the FoxDen cabal. Smalls: (Pause) Are you sure? Adams: Absolutely. Do you know anything about this FoxDen cabal? Smalls: Not much, but more than most. They are a ring of senior Hashashim agents. They come into play only in the most dire of circumstances. No one commands them, they work independently. When they see a threat against Kazomal, they move against it, and they have their fingers in many pies. If we’ve come to their attention, it could be big trouble. They are very good at what they do. The best. I don’t know much beyond their codenames. Silver Fox, Sly Fox, Red Fox, Bush Fox, Signal Fox, Sea Fox, Grey Fox. Yes, this could be very big trouble for us. Jesus, I don’t even know how to go about beginning to find out who they are, much less what they have on us or how to fight them. Adams: Well, our friend has found one. Smalls: She’s. . .she did what? Adams: (Smiles) I told you DuPeir was good. Anyway, yes, she has located Grey Fox. He’s in Solisbury, in Solisbury 2. I was thinking we put the new, ‘spirit of cooperation’ between the Hashashim and the SCF to work for us. After all, DuPeir is the face of the Hashashim to the SCF. There is no reason they have to know that her requests don’t come directly from the Warder’s Office. Smalls: Well then, let’s go on a fox hunt, shall we? |

2 am. A deserted alleyway between tall buildings in Solisbury Two. A tall man in a brown overcoat walks up to a pair already waiting in the alley.:: Man: “So, what was so important that we had meet like. . .” He cuts off abruptly as he comes close enough to see the faces of the mystery pair. Stranger #1: “Not who you were expecting, Grey Fox?” As Stranger #1 begins to raise his pistol, the Grey fox lands an inhumanly fast blow to his wrist before the pistol is even 1/8th raised, and immediately lands a similarly quick chop to Stranger #1’s throat. As Stranger #1 staggers backwards, gurgling and choking on his ruined windpipe, Grey Fox throws a backfist at Stranger #2, who dodges backward. As Grey Fox turns to run, he realizes that at either end of the alley stands a squad of SCF commandos. Black vans, no doubt modified and armored, block the narrow entrances, hiding the activity in the ally. A quick glance around confirmed that the windows had been sealed up, and the wall stripped of anything that could be used to climb. Stranger #2: “You have nowhere to hide, Grey Fox. You are to return to Kazomal with us. Grey Fox: (smiles, removes a Sig Sauer P226 .40 S&W from an interior pocket of his coat, ejects the magazine, droppes the weapon, places his hands behind his head, and turns to face Stranger #2) “Of course. I’m sure this misunderstanding will be cleared up shortly.” Agent Marissa DuPeir steps out from behind the group of commandos behind Grey Fox. She draws a handgun, shoots Grey Fox in the back, walks up the the body, confirms the kill with 2 shots into the back of the head. “I’m sure. Ok, let’s get this cleaned up and back to Kazomal.” She picks up the Grey Fox’s gun, examines it, replaces the magazine, and stows the firearm in her pocket. |

OOC: Again, the posts and TM record is incomplete here. Here's the synopsis: In an oversight on Lowe's part, the FSA was not alerted that a Hashashim/SCF joint op was going on in Solisbury 2 (Lowe was unaware of the true nature of the op, having been told by DuPeir that she had tracked a "rouge agent" to Solisbury, and wanted the SCF's help in eliminating him). When the FSA looked into the op, they found documents left behind by Grey Fox containing evidence against Smalls, Adams, and DuPeir. A FSA Junior Case Agent named Greyson Thomas stole these documents before any copies had been made, and attempted to blackmail DuPeir with the documents, though not before Admiral Lowe and FSA head Stephen Lee had read them. DuPeir convinced Thomas to come to Kazomal to do the exchange. Greyson took the documents to Kazomal to meet her. Angela Kingston, Senior FSA agent assigned to the case, set off after Greyson to recover the documents. After taking the documents without paying the agreed ransom and threatening him, DuPeir placed Greyson on a privately chartered jet back to Solisbury. After takeoff, one of DuPeir's underlings (Hashashim teams assigned by Warder Adams to help DuPeir) approached her and informed her that 6 FSA agents were detected observing the airstrip. The Hashashim agents ambused the team, with some killed and some captured. Among those captured was Angela Kingston. DuPeir, with no further use for Greyson, and ordered a missile strike to destroy his jet, including the pilot. DuPeir then told her superiors in the Hashashim that she was meeting with Greyson Thomas in relation to an ongoing investigation against the Braslandish Mafia, and that his jet was shot down by a SAM fired form the deck of a Braslandish Mafia-crewed ship, which quickly escaped into the night after a short chase by a Hashashim chopper, which confirmed the identity of the ship as one know to be used by the Braslandish Mafia. This is accepted by her superiors and the Warders, and reported to the region. DuPeir then contacted Lowe, who she knew has seen the documents, and told him that she has several of his people in captivity, and that if he comes forward with an accusation, they will all be executed. She hopes this will keep Lowe at bay. Additionally, with the documents recovered from Greyson, DuPeir has the clues she needs to piece together the location of the other 6 FoxDen agents. A little while later, Nassr is assigned as the new SCF/Hashashim liaison. Lowe asks Nassr if he can help him find some missing FSA agents in Kazomal, and mentions DuPeir. (Within Hashashim HQ) Marissa DuPeir sits at her desk. Bank statements, financial transactions, and personnel files, mainly in Odonerun, flash across her computer screen. Deeply absorbed in her work, she almost doesn’t notice the knock at her door as her colleague, Assam Nassr, enters the office. Nassr: Marissa, I’ve been meaning to talk with you, do you have a minute? DuPeir: Certainly (she closes the files she was working on and puts a heavy manilla folder back into her desk, locking it). Nassr: I was speaking to Peter Lowe from Solisbury, and he mentioned that you were helping him look for some missing FSA agents in Kazomal. I was unaware that there were any FSA agents in Kazomal. Can you enlighten me? DuPeir’s mind worked quickly. Lowe, that fool! She had warned him not to push! Smalls and Adams needed to know about this, and they wouldn’t be pleased. DuPeir: Lowe and I have been coordinating on the investigation into the Braslandish mafia hit on Greyson Thomas a few months back. A group of FSA and Hashashim agents were on a off-the-books undercover op. They haven’t checked in in a few days. I’m looking into in, but honestly, this sort of thing isn’t that unusual. Peter’s not from intelligence, though, so I suppose he gets a but jumpy in these situations. Nassr: I see. Anything you need assistance with? DuPeir: Not at the moment, although I appreciate the offer. I’d imagine you have your hands full with the SFCB op. Nassr: (nods) Always something, am I right? I’ll let you get back to work. Before Nassr got back to his office, both he and DuPeir had messages in their inbox from Warder Lindsey Adams. Nassr’s instructed him to come to the Citadel of the Warders to meet with Warder Adams immediately. DuPeir’s message instructed her to meet Smalls at the storefront he had recently acquired (via proxy, of course). ******************************************* DuPeir arrived at the large storefront, parked, and entered through the rear. The building had been gutted, and had the look of being under construction, All the windows were boarded up. Sporadic drop lights lent insufficient light. DuPeir’s first indication that she wasn’t alone was the smell of Smalls’ cigarette, followed closely by the sound of a deep drag, then the light of an ember moving across the floor towards her, and finally, the small silhouette and shadowed features of Wilford Smalls. Smalls: “Marissa, welcome. I assume you know why you were asked here?” DuPeir: “Does it have something to do with the visit I just received from Nassr?” Smalls: “How did that go?” DuPeir: “I don’t know if he bought my story. I’m afraid he’ll try to confirm it with Lowe, who seems determined to ignore my threats.” Smalls: “Adams called him to the Citadel, she’ll waste his time until I can deal with Lowe. We have a little extra leverage this time. Angela Kingston, one of the FSA hostages. I have uncovered the extent of her and Lowe’s relationship, and I am confident that Lowe will back off if I make it clear that we are serious, and that I know exactly how bad we can hurt him via Angela. You are to have the other 3 agents killed. They will wash up on the shore of Kazomal, more victims of the Braslandish mafia. I will contact Lowe directly and lay out the situation for him in no uncertain terms. That should be enough to keep his mouth shut next time he talks to Nassr. Nassr himself will soon come to a bad end. We will keep you posted on anything else we need from you.” (He grinds out his cigarette and turns to leave.) “And smack Kingston around a bit before I get there. I want to show him she’s in true danger.” |

To: Peter Lowe (Date file consist of an audio recording) "Admiral Lowe, SCF. My name is Wilford Smalls. I believe you already know me, or know of me, more accurately. It is truly a shame it had to come to this, Admiral. I have been reviewing your personnel files and history, and I must say, there is a lot to be admired here. Your family has a long naval tradition. Sadly, though, you have decided to become an obstacle to me. This is your final chance to let it be. Three of the four FSA agents I have been holding are dead. This will be confirmed by the media soon enough. The fourth, a Miss Angela Kingston, her life is in your hands. (at this, an image comes up on Lowe's screen of Angela, obviously badly abused, along with today's newspaper. The image last a few seconds, then vanishes) I know just how important Ms. Kingston is to you, Peter. So I am going to make a deal with you. You stop pursuing me and my confederates, and Ms. Kingston will remain safe and well cared for until after our plans have come to pass, then she will be returned to Solisbury alive and well. Any further interruption from you, and Ms. Kingston dies a terrible death. I know you contacted Nassr about these agents, and that he doesn't know why. If he asks about it again, you are to confirm the story he gives you about a joint undercover operation. I hope we can cooperate here." *************************************************************** (Also in Lowe's inbox is a message from Nassr) "Admiral, I asked Agent DuPeir about the missing agents you mentioned, and she informed me that the two of you are working on a joint undercover op against suspected pirates operating out of Kazomal. She has also informed me that communications blackouts are normal in such an investigation, and that she is nonetheless looking into the location of your agents." |

OP by Solisbury: Message from Lowe, Admiral Peter F To: Nassr, Special Agent Assam Nassr, Everything you say is correct. Marissa DuPeir and I are working closely together on the Kazomali pirate case and it is possible a communication black-out is the reason I haven't heard from the FSA team. I apologise for worrying you unnecessarily. Peter - - - Admiral Lowe was angry. The position he was in was difficult, and now three people were dead because he had carelessly contacted Nassr. Most worrying was the fate of the fourth team member. Hopefully by following his instructions and confirming the story, Nassr would be appeased and Smalls would be happy with him. He slammed his fist against the glass table top in frustration, jumping back in surprise as a small crack appeared. He grabbed his laptop and ePhone from the desk and put them down on the sofa, before turning back to the desk. How was he going to explain this to Facilities? Just then, his computer made the familiar noise of 'new mail' and he glanced at the screen. An encoded message from Commander Lee? He wasn't expecting any messages from his counterpart at the FSA, and needed to hurry to meet with Claire from PR, the representative from Bob From Sales regarding the popularly-titled "Muskokian Situation." He was about to leave when he noticed the subject line. It simply read "Seven". Lowe shut the door and sat down, this message couldn't be ignored. |

Assam Nassr sat out in his back yard, absent-mindedly flicking his silver cigarette lighter. He pulled one out of his pack and settled in with his cigarette and his Liao pipe, and his laptop on his lap, Admiral Lowe's message on the screen. It was as he feared. His conversation with DuPeir had left him with a vague suspicion, and now this confirmed it. DuPeir had told him the she was working with the Admiral on infiltrating the Braslandish Mafia. When he contacted Lowe, he intentionally misstated, and asked about an investigation into piracy, which Lowe had confirmed. Clearly, something did not add up. And why had he been so suddenly called to brief Warder Adams ad nauseam on virtually all his active ops after his conversation with DuPeir? Nassr took a long drag, and set to work. . . |

KazArms is the leading exporter of small and heavy armaments and military technology in Kazomal, and the biggest supplier of arms to the Kazomal military. Assam Nassr dead! Hashashim agent Assam Nassr, nicknamed “the world’s most high-profile spy,” was killed this morning when he lost control of his vehicle on Jerad Miller Memorial bridge into Landfall, and plunged into the river below. Nassr was a national hero, taking a lead role in many of the crisis that has faced Kazomal since arriving in Ixnay. A state funeral is scheduled for Monday. |
