'Wow these ogres are really annoying now' Lyahus puffed 'Yes, more will come and trolls, and dragites(half dragons), and orcs and every other evil creature known to man' said Linod 'Yeah well, Merlin said it would be hard' Lyahus added 'You girls can whine all you want, I'm gonna kill some dragon' Squall said promptly 'Who said we were whinning?' said Lyahus and the two giggled. They finally reached the end of the forest. They all gazed at the famrs and villages that stood in front of them. 'Look' proclaimed Lyahus, pointing at mountains to the east 'Nice eye' said Squall 'I;m an archer, what did you expect?' |

L stood and watched over to the mountains. Something did not feel right. L turned behind to look back at the forest. "What's the matter?" asked Squall. "Just got the feeling we are being watched." replied L L turned to his Ifrit, "Remz," L whispered. "Yes master?" replied the Ifrit. "Since only I can see you, watch behind us. I fear we are being trailed." "As you wish" said Remz as he flew higher into the sky "Who are you talking to?" asked Lyahus. "Nobody," lied L, it was important no one knew the existenince of Remz, he was his secret key, only Merlin and him knew of Remz's existence. If they even knew of Remz's name, then he would appear, it was the secret to discovering Demons, Merlin had told him so. They continued and reached a long bridge. "Something's wrong" said Lyahus. "What?" asked Squall "The bridge has been a bit cut." L looked over to the far side, and sure enough, half of the supporting rope was cut. "Someone knows what we are doing," said L quietly, so their stalker would not hear them. |

"ugh..... this realy pisses me off!!" squall was the most impatient, persistant guy u could ever find. squall looked around, he saw a huge tree and shot it down with his gunblade. he carried it single handedly, and place it where the bridge was. "cross" squall was realy pissed. squall thought as he crossed, 'stupid ogres.hm.' after every one had crossed safely. squall couldnt help but think, 'theres more to this. it cant be just these losers.' squall looked back at the tree and saw two ninja's skipping across in un-immaginable speed. they attacked squall, and with in the blink of an eye, one of the fell. the other suddenly stopped to look at his fallen comrade. an arrow was in his back. 'this isnt Lyahus's arrow.' he thought. Squall pulled his gun blade and shot the second ninja who was distracted by his fallen freind. Squall dropped the tree down into the stream, just to make sure none would follow them. 'who?' he thought. 'who shot that arrow?' squall, remembered he fell behind, and ran to catch up up with his freinds.but they were no where in sight. |

Squall was rushed with great speed by Lyahus. 'Those ninjas you saw are.....-were part of my kin' said Lyahus sadly 'What happened?' Squall asked with great anxiety of another attack. 'Its a long stroy, maybe another time. Oh and that arrow, that arrow was Lenox, an apprentice of Merlin and old friend of mine. I saw him in the forest, but he probably doesn't even know that I know' They finally caught up with L. 'So where was he' L asked 'Wandering like a baffling fool, oh and Lenox is following us' 'Lenox, Merlin's apprentice, who do you know him?' 'Another long story, he was probably sent to watch us. If we wish to lose him we must hide in that town for a while' said Lyahus as he pointed to a small town nestled between two hills. 'Your choice'. |

L looked back, Lenox, sure enough, was concealed in the trees. "Master" whispered Remz into L's ear. L looked towards the other two, who were to busy to notice him. "Yes?" asked L quickly, afraid they'd hear him "I have confirmed that Merlin's apprentics, Lenox, is following us." L nodded, "I am well aware of that." "Are you aware taht another is following us?" asked Remz "What? WHO?" whispered L quickly, but L knew the answer before he said it. "It is Xalmak" L cursed, he walked over to the other two. "No time to rest, we must leave." said L hastily "But-" interjected Squall "NOW!" said L as he heard silent footsteps gaining closer, whether it was Xalmak or Lenox, he did not know, frankly, he did not care. But, the mere thought of Xalmak being so near, was terrifying. They stopped at the edge of a small village. L looked back and quickly and saw Xalmak gaining closer, it was obvious it was him, no other Demon had larger wings or sharper horns. Things were getting bad. Quickly. but, Xalmak was after Linod, not the others, he would have to leave them and join u with them later. "I'll meet up with you later," said Linod in a hurry as he rushed into the forest. He was the only one who could see Xalmak, after all, he only knew his name. L rushed deep into the forest. "Master," said Remz as he flew quickly near L, "Xalmak is gaining on us. There was nothing he could do but face Xalmak. Face to face. |

"ugh... allright. for a journey of action, this isnt realy fun" every one goes in the town. every one goes and does random stuff. squall goes to a nearby restraunt and sat down 'who were these guys? what are they after?' squall looked at every filled table. the restraunt was filled with chatter. a woman, no older then 21 came towards squall and asked "excuse me, there are no places to sit, and would u mind let me sitting with u?" squall nodded. the woman sat down. she strocked her long black hair. her brown eyes werent that bad either. the bar tender came and offered drinks. squall ordered and so did the mystery woman. "so may i ask ur name please?" asked squall, how knew how to treat a lady. "sure, its Rinoa Heartilly" she replied cheerfully "i'm squall leanheart, nice to meet ya" the bartender came with the drinks, "oh no, i dont have enough money." she complained "let me get that for you" squall said. after a long night of chat, squall got to know Rinoa. it was dead at night. squall sensed something. all of a sudden Norse warriors came. of course, the english and the norse were dispicable enemies. every one ran around in fear. squall went to find his freinds, they were no where in sight. he saw, in the distance, a norse warrior chasing Rinoa, Squall ran and shot Norse man. Rinoa was chased, by another warrior. Squall shot again. he ran to Rinoa and made sure she was safe. he ran to the town center and found L and Lyahus there. 'what could they want?' squall thought 'what?' Rinoa squeezed squall real hard, it felt like the grip of hell. he put his arm around her to make her feel she was protected... |

As the three stood and one at the knees of squall, the norse horsemen strided closer to them. Lyahus gave a grin. 'What the hell are you grinning about' Squall blurted 'You'll see' Lyahus answered 'Nork! Old friend how is it I see you' 'Well Lyahus once you lft me to die by the hand of the gargoyle, I found an escape' said a hprsemen obviously of great rank. 'Great, then you can join my crew of men to slay a dragon' 'Like I'd join you again' shouted Nork 'Too bad' said Lyahus with great speed Lyahus withdrew his bow and arrow and shot every horsemen that stood in their way, Squall quickly helped drawing his mighty gunblade, Squall killed 10 to 15 horsemen. 'We must leave, we must go back for Linod, he is in danger' 'But-' 'No! We leave immediatly' Lyahus commanded, Squall said his goodbyes to the new lady in his life. Lyahus took no note of her and marched with full haste into the woods, heading towards where Linod had last been seen. |

L fell to the ground Xalmak smiled a giant smile, "Long time no see," Xalmak noticed Remz, and they nodded theiir heads in recognition, Merlin had told him Demons were all allies, no matter what side they fought on, which meant, Remz would not help him on this battle. Xalmak's wings folded behind his back and he looked down towards Linod, "How long has it been. do you remember that long day, where I was supposedly your guardian." "You betrayed me, so I got Remz." Remz shooks his head, a bit proud, Xalmak looked down towards L, "If that's the case, thatn you have just made a terrible enemy, Linod." L shook in terror, "Linod, L, whatever you call yourslef, you shall still die." Suddenly Squall and Lyahus appeared, they looked around, but, they could not see Xalmak, so did not know what he was hiding from. "There is no way you can hurt me now." L paused. "Xalmak," suddenly the demon appeared in front of Lyahus and Squall's eyes, they jumped back in shock. " So, now they see me, eh?" replied Xalmak, "Let's battle..." |

"what the hell is that?!" yelled lyahus squall chuckeled "finally, some action!" squall jumps in the air and does a sword battle with Xalmak. of course squall was no match and was struck down like a bird from the heavens. Lyahus started shooting arrows, but were reflected. unknowingly, squall used lyahus as a distraction for his old trick. he readied his gunblade, jumped behind Xalmak, and fired. nothing seemed to happen. he was uneffected. the grin became a frown when xalmak turned. he was struck down again. no one was able to continue. but maybe, just one person can....... |

Linod had struck a special demon spell that almost immediatly caused Xalmak feel pain. Xalmaks facial expressions were almost halrious but in that moment were just a good sign. Squall knew what to do next, he readied his gunblade and hit Xalmak right in his chest. Lyahus withdrew his gear again, aimed and shot an arrow to the creatures heart. Finally Linod Took his staff enchanted a spell and within that second thousands of swords appeard and killed Xalmak. Lyahus and and Squall celebrated, but Linod stood there frowning.... |

"That was not Xalmak," said L The other two exchanged glances "Xalmak was never that easy to defeat..." "Correct" said a voice from around them : I wasn't even here, in fact, I have taken over the dragons body and await your arival, waht will be your move, heroes?" |

allright, every one was celebrating, squall noticed L wasnt. he went to him and said "you feelin' ok big guy?" L took a moment and replied yes. "good. cuz we aint goin' no where with these wounds." "yes i can see that" he replied "by the way, who was that?" squall asked. "just an old freind of mine" he smilled no one has seen him smile before. "any way, lets get back to town." squall smirked. The norse that were tracking the place just disapeared. 'where did they go?' he thought. Rinoa saw every thing. she was impressed with squall and his teams tactics. she talked with squall that night, telling him she is also a mercinary working dor the same orginazation he is. next day, she asked if she coud join, every one welcomed her. they told her the quest they were on, she came with a smile on her face. squall knew Rinoa was going to be big help. |

L watched Squall talk to Rinoa, he hid a smile, he turned and saw Remz staring at the sky. "Remz..." said L "Yes, master?" "What is your world like?" Remz paused, he did not speak, and when he spoke he spoke with almost a dream-like tone in his voice. "Master, our realm, is beautiful. Violence and war does not exist there, neither does evil. It is a neutral world." Linod watched as Remz had a smile on his face and described the beuty of the demon world. Many stories made it sound evil, but Remz made it sound amazing. L twisted as he attempted to sleep, hearing Xalmak's voice repeat, "What is your next move, heroes?" L knew this was going to be hard, but, with Xalmak in the picture, things got more tougher. L opened his eyes... Lenox, he had forgotten all about him. What had happend to him, he had left, he was sure, but to where, was it possible Lenox was betraying him, or was he a spy just in case he needed help, no, if he was, then he would have aided him against Xalmak's shade. Which complicated all the more. Xalmak could not use magic, it was in the Demon laws, Merlin had explained each and every law of the Demon. How foolish had he been! Of course, there was the first law!! Any Demon in the human realm is a slave to the first human taht finds out it's name. Like Remz. But, what about Xalmak, he had given up Xalmak as his guard. Was it possible that Xalmak was not under restraints, or was his new human master hidden somewhere. And if so, where. L fell to sleep, the whole time thinking, Who was Xalmak's human master? |

day rose, sunshine lighted the room, he got up, did some stretches and ate breakfast. that was some battle last night. he remembered. the pain was still there. truly nothing made sense at that time. norse attacking, Xalmac right there, something was not right. why would the norse attack this town. he went out, and saw Lyahus lookin out into the open. the sun was too bright. he suddenly noticed, L was there. he talked to him "you ready to go?" squall asked "yeah, i guess" L replied. "i'm just gonna let ya know, Rinoa from yesterday is comin' with us. fine with u?" "sure. the more the merier." Lyahus didn't like the looks of it. Rinoa, from yesterday, was gonna come. "why does she have to come?" he complained. "if she comes, there's a less chance of dying" L explained precautiosly. they walked out of city gate. they were hiking when Lyahus finaly said to L. "i dont trust Rinoa. she could betray us, just like that." "I know." L said calmly. deep in thought Lyahus looked back at the happy faces of squall and Rinoa, and shook his head. 'squall, i knew u well.' |

L looked back, no sign of Lenox everywhere, was it possible taht he already left. Odd though, no sooner had Xalmak arrived then the norse attacked the town, and the ninjas, something was brewing, something bigger than a dragon, there was a plan, and a person at the top, but, who? Could it be Lenox, he was never trust worthy, or was it taht girl, Raomi, she appeared happy, a bit to happy for a woman who had encountered Norse and watched the fight. If only Merlin were here, his only ally in this was Remz, the only person he actually trusted. L looked over to Lyahus, elves weren't always trust worthy, and he did seem a bit odd when he had met him, a bit to eager for the challenge. Then, there was Squall, his friend since childhood, but, had he changed? Was something going on he did not know about? If so, what? Then Raomi, she seemed odd, like Lyahus, he did not trust her, but, he could not show it, he must conitnue to act natural. Finally, Lenox. Why had he followed them? Was it under Merlin's orders... If so, why had Merlin ordered it? Protection? No, that was what Remz was for, this seemed odd. He must quickly think, who could be Xalmak's master, it could e any of these suspects, Merlin had said the rule of Demonship, kill the owner of the Demon, and the Demon becomes your slave, but, it could not be Lyahus or Squall, until he said Xalmak's name, they had not known, but, Raomi, had she seen from before, and what of Lenox? He heard a branch snap, and turned to the left, black eyes stared back at him through the forest, then, he realised what it was. "Cyclops!!!" screamed L as he summoned Remz down and the others prepared for battle... |
