This is the approved template for character profiles.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
==================

1.) Hit the "quote" button on this post. This will enable you to get the whole profile format, including the bold formatting, so that you won't have to do it yourself or have a mod fix it for you. Neat, huh?

2.) Copy and paste the profile template into the body of a brand new post in the section entitled "Seeking Moderation", which you can find here.

3.) Title the post with your character's name. Nothing else should be in this field. Ignore the topic description, unless you really feel like writing a one-sentence summary of your character, in which case go for it. It's not required.

4.) Take your time filling out the template. You don't have to do it all at once; you can always save the post (by posting it) and come back to it later. No one is going to bother it until you're ready for it to be bothered.

5.) When you're finished with the profile to the best of your knowledge and ability, send a message to a mod asking them to look it over. Please make sure you specify the character's name so that no one gets confused. At this point, a mod will check it to make sure there are no discrepancies between whatever you wrote and the setting we're envisioning, and to make sure you're not writing a character completely out of scale with the setting. If there are no problems, you're good to go, and we'll move the post to "Approved". If there is a problem, see the next step.

6.) If there is a problem with your profile, the mod reviewing it will discuss it with you in private, giving you a chance to explain yourself and perhaps reach a compromise. At this point, you will be asked to revise your profile accordingly and let the mod know when you're done. If all is correct at this point, the mod will move your post to "Accepted".

7.) At this point, you will be given an "entry point". This is a prompt, scenario, or thread that the mod would like to see you use as a method of introducing your character. Much like the typical D&D starter of "You meet in a tavern", this allows your character to form immediate connections to other characters. If there is a problem with your assigned entry point, you may discuss it with the mod so that you can agree on how to handle it in private, but we do expect you to utilize your assigned entry point to introduce your character to the setting.

8.) Once you've completed your entry point, you may start roleplaying your character in any other thread in the IC forums. You are permitted to edit your profile, but we ask that you run any drastic changes by a mod before committing to them.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to send a private message and ask.

PROFILE TEMPLATE
==============

Sections below are explained where it seemed necessary. Self-explanatory sections have been left alone. Please do not reorder the profile or remove any of the included fields, although you may add additional fields or information as necessary. If you cannot fill out a field, simply mark it "N/A" and move on.

Name:
Aliases/Nickname: Any other name your character goes by on a regular basis, including nicknames, costumed identities, etc.
Country of Origin:
Languages:
Gender/Orientation: Include pronouns if you feel they're necessary or applicable and orientation on the sexual and/or romantic axes, if you like. Whatever you feel is relevant or necessary. You may mark this as "N/A" if you don't find it important to your character.
Age:
Birthday: Month and day; don't bother with the year.
Occupation: If your character has a job, it goes here.
Religion: If your character is religious, information about which religion they follow and whether they have a patron deity goes here.

Height:
Build: What does their body shape look like? Are they athletic? Slender? Good muscle tone? No muscle tone? Shaped like a donut? Think about your character's silhouette and describe it here. You'll notice there's no weight section, so try to use this section to give us an idea.
Skin Tone: What color is their skin? You can also include details like whether they have freckles, acne, etc. here.
Hair: Color, but also details like length, style, texture, etc.
Eyes: Color is good. Details are better. Think about eye shape, how they look at others, etc.
Identifying Marks: Scars, birthmarks, tattoos, piercings, anything that can be used to identify a body if they die. Those go here. Try to be specific about location.
Appearance: Use this section to talk about things like what types of clothing your character prefers, their posture, their gait, or whatever else will help people get a good mental image of them. Get as in-depth as you like and talk about the shape of their nose, or keep things a little less specific. Up to you.

Family: Any relatives? Living? Deceased? What kind of relationships do they have with their relatives? Use paragraphs.
  • Name: Relationship

Best Friends: Who do they hang with? Who are their bros? Who would they bury a body for? Again, paragraphs!
  • Name: Relationship

Relationship Status: Single? Dating around? In a committed relationship? Married? Divorced? Widowed? If you could (ideally) put it in a Facebook status update, you can put it here.
Significant Other(s): This is the place to talk about boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, or whatever else your character calls their super-special someone or someones.
  • Name: Relationship

Other Relationships: Do they have enemies? Frenemies? A passing acquaintanceship with the local butcher, baker, and candlestick maker? Talk about those things here.
  • Name: Relationship

Personality: If you write a list of adjectives, we'll send you back to revise. Use complete sentences and write it out.
Motivations: Why does this character do what they do? What drives them?
Goals: What does this character want out of life?
Fears:
Hobbies/Talents/Skills: A hobby is a thing you do for fun in your spare time. A talent is a thing you're born good at, like having perfect pitch; a skill is something that can be taught, learned, and practiced, like playing guitar. They're under the same heading here but it's important to note that they are, in fact, not the same thing.

Combat Style: If your character has magic, weapons, both, or is some kind of bare-fisted brawler, put that information here.
Tactics: Does your character prefer to fight from range or get in close? Do they run from fights they know they can't win or do they fight indiscriminately? Do they pick fights or wait for someone else to incite them? That goes here.

Backstory: Where did you come from, where did you go? Where did you come from, Character Joe?
