Chrysler Eagle; Anyone remember them?

30 years ago (1987), when the Chrysler K-Car and minivan were still young and popular, Chrysler bought the Jeep division from AMC, birthing the SUV craze. American Motors Corp. was renamed Eagle. Eagle's idea was to appeal to the enthusiasist driver, in a manner kind of like GM's Saturn division. Eagle had two cars that made them stand out-the Plymouth Laser/Mitsubishi Eclipse-based Talon, with the Dodge Intrepid/Chrysler Concorde-based Eagle Vision. Eagle for the most part had reliability issues and they were not popular sellers. They were rebadged Chrysler/Mitsubishi products, and until the Durango came out, neither Dodge nor Chrysler had an SUV to sell, a trend that was rising in popularity in the 80's and 90's, with the minivan. With the Dodge dealer and the Chrysler-Plymouth dealer, it made sense to form the Jeep-Eagle dealer. By 1998, the Eagle name was history. The Eclipse lasted up until 2012, the Vision was turned into the next-gen Concorde and Intrepid by Chrysler and Dodge, running until the 300 and Charger took over for 2005, all the others faded away and got replaced by whatever Chrysler made next. 1998 was when Chrysler and DaimlerBenz merged together, killing Eagle. Then Plymouth went away three years later, before 9/11 happened. Because Jeeps were becoming popular, 1998 was when the Durango was born.

Anyone have thoughts? I know that the Saturn division had a better repair record and went on until the end of 2009/2010, when GM was cleaning up the damage from the 2008-2009 auto crisis.
