As the only one to get myself through the movie (with sound lag - it wasn't too bad though) I mentioned in the chat (logged where it usually is) that it was an entertaining 90 minutes...and it was. But that's it. There is no reason to watch this a second time, or reflect on it at all. It's there, it happened, and that's it. Unlike the previous two movies, quite a few characters are OOC (Bender: never says "shiny metal ass" directly, the overimagining also comes out of nowhere; Leela: she's always been semi-tomboyish, but randomly killing??), and the explanation for how the "game" comes to be only comes in an extremely rushed ending. Not too overloaded with cameos is good, but then I was very surprised to see two surprise couples randomly kiss just for the heck of it - that's not Futurama comedy at all! Someone said all-in-all it was Family-Guy-esque...I'm not ready to say that yet. The good news is, Into the Wild Green Yonder is the last of the scheduled DVDs - and then FOX has that last decision on whether to restart the series in episodic form (or is it Comedy Central??). It comes out in late-February - twice as fast between any other two movies. The first three movies now have all had crucial faults that won't make them series-savers - the first, Bender's Big Score, an extremely complex plot and a certain couple overemphasized, Beast with a Billion Backs, the flow and action was on & off, and now this...best described as "where did that come from?". Maybe everything will come together soon and, at the very least, we'll have a strong ending to the series. This movie: 6.2/10 |

Nice review, Gavin. ;) Yeah, the sound lag was too much to overcome for me. If there was a decent video out there, I'd probably watch it again. |
