Yep, there are new eps all the Saturdays this month, and probably straight through to the rest of the season, maybe with one more blip

Well that's lame. I may not be a fan of the show but I hate it when I miss episodes and then can't watch it online either.

Wow. I think I almost fell off my couch in laughter after I heard Rainbow Dash utter "Derpy." What a moment, not just for the show in general, but for the fandom. How awesome is it to have the people behind the scenes and those in charge of putting together MLP do the ultimate salute and officially make Derpy cannon. Some people seem to be up in arms over the fact that they turned her into a bumbling idiot. But to me, it's such a great moment for the fans, I don't really care how they characterized her. This episode really takes the cake for that alone (and I was wondering why she was absent from the previous two epiosdes - because of today!). :P

But despite all of that in the beginning, overall this was truly a high quality episode, featuring the Mane 6. There was just so much going on, it's really hard to get a complete grasp on it yet. I couldn't quite understand how Applejack could just ditch her life back in Ponyville the way she did. But her reason for doing so all made sense in the end. I think part of it is because she is a pretty stubborn pony, and yet, she didn't want the whole town disappointed in that she didn't win any prize money to help fix up the town hall. And yes, a letter to Princess Celestia returned at the end.

Normally I don't read much fan fiction, but I decided to check out "My Little Dashie" seeing as I've heard a lot about it out there and it is a well regarded fic. Well, it's exactly how it's been advertised, sad! But wow, such a powerful piece of writing. It's a story that'll tug at your heartstrings, for sure.

Gah, the last episode was just stupendous (kind of like Scootaloo describing Rainbow Dash). The song was fabulous and the episode was just plain fun (one of my favorite episodes of season two). Is this not a great show or what?

"Read it and Weep" - The last couple of weeks really provided for some memorable MLP episodes, so it is easy to understand why it'd be difficult to keep up to those standards. And really, there was nothing wrong with Read it and Weep, it just wasn't quite up to where "The Last Roundup" and "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" was. That being said, I love me an episode where Rainbow Dash is the focus. And I think she was shown in a better light this time around than in the Mare-Do-Well episode (which gets a lot of hate from fans, but which is an episode I actually really enjoy).

Rainbow Dash did end up having her opinion changed of reading, that it wasn't just for smart ponies (aww, apparently that means she doesn't think of herself as smart, just athletic) - and honestly, this is a great episode which shows that you shouldn't bash something until you've at least tried it to know whether or not you end up liking it, kind of like how people slowly and gradually get hooked on My Little Pony, maybe. ;) Anyways, it's another nice episode to get a person with no knowledge of the show whatsoever to get started on.

The general consensus is that this is a mid-tier season two episode, but it's still growing on me. Again, Rainbow Dash is one of my favorites on the show, so you can understand why I might like it higher than just a mid-tier episode.

Until Korra comes along, I challenge you to find better animation to watch

The same might happen with me in 4 weeks, Luke, if "Put Your Hoof Down" (centered around FLUTTERSHY trying to become more assertive) is middle-of-the-pack. There's no way I won't love the episode. Today was on par with Baby Cakes

Annnnnnnnd...if we had another person to talk about the show with, I think it would be the next big thing to talk about here. When it's just me and Gavin, well it's just the two of us discussing the show. With AGU, there was a bunch of us. With Kim Possible, there were four, Avatar five-plus people. The more people you have talking about a show the better (maybe that means I should try recruiting some more MLP fans here?) So yeah, I guess it is what it is. And I know Gavin is quite busy talking about pony on another forum.

For the most part, the single-focus pony episodes never seem to be at the same level of epic-ness as when the mane-6 all have equal roles, such as what happened in the previous two episodes. "Baby Cakes" was the Pinkie-centered episode and now today, Rainbow Dash was the center. That being said, you can't go wrong with any episode of this show. Even when MLP episodes seem less-than-stellar, it sure beats any other 'toon out there by miles.

"Hearts and Hooves Day" - Ok, so it has taken me a few days to post here regarding the latest episode. But all in all, it was another solid episode. I was worried that it would end up being too sappy but really, it was done perfectly. I love the animated faces of the ponies in season two and this episode brought with it some more great faces from Cheerilee, Big Mac, and the CMC's. The episode was just plain hilarious; especially when Cheerilee and Big Mac talked to each other under the "love poison" spell (I wanted Big Mac to talk more, but geez, he really stepped out of the box with that dialogue :D ). I think the highlight for many in this episode was when Sweetie Belle yelled out "Oh Come on!" after their first attempt at hooking her and Big Mac up failed. Sweetie Belle is the best CMC and this episode really helped her shine even more. When all is said and done, I think MLP did a great job putting together a Valentine's Day themed episode without it coming across as too sappy to everyone involved. And yes, there was even a song (although not as memorable as the others this season - still a good one, though)! :P

Gavin...where are yooooooooooou? :P

I'll keep this post brief since we're in the middle of a two-week break of new pony episodes. Last Saturday we had the new episode titled "A Friend in Deed." At first I wasn't in love with the episode, but it really, really grew on me. I totally enjoyed the "Smile" song the first time I heard it. What won the episode over for me was just the incredible amount of continuity displayed in the episode and Pinkie Pie's pure joy and friendliness. How could you not smile while watching it?

Meanwhile, in fandom news ... Derpy's voice was re-dubbed in "The Last Roundup" and she was no longer called Derpy by Rainbow Dash. Her voice also changed and her eyes were re-imaged so they were no longer "derped." There's some speculation that this will only occur on the iTune's release of the episode and not within any other releases. But we shall see.

Well you could post a little blurb here and there on this thread. I know this ain't Ponygoons, but we gotta try and keep this place going in some way, shape, or form.

As for Derpy, I'm not getting totally wrapped up in the issue and I'm ready for it to be over. It was a nice tip of the hat to the fans, but I guess it didn't sit well with a small minority of fans. Can't please everyone.

And up next, the Fluttershy episode that a lot of people have been excited for. ;)
