A Hurricane May Strike the US; Hurricane Irene

It's been about 3 years since a hurricane has struck the U.S. coastline, and it appears Hurricane Irene may be the next to do so. Even though the track has shifted further east than originally predicted, the forecast has it striking the South Carolina coast by sometime Saturday as a Category 2 storm. As we've learned over the years with these things, the track and intensity is always unpredictable, so it could suddenly strengthen quickly. Everyone from the Florida coast to New England is urged to watch Irene closely during the next week.

I have some cousins who live in Virginia. I hope they'll be safe from this storm and not suffer any major damage to their personal property or their city. This one may turn out to be worse than Katrina and if it is, we may see huge repair costs and even worse, quite a few people killed. Lets hope that doesn't end up being the case.

Well it has weakened considerably, but still, any strength hurricane getting up into this part of the country where it's lesser in common than Florida or along the Gulf, it will ultimately lead to some damage. Hopefully it won't end up being as bad or worse than Katrina.

I survived Irene, but the internet and cable kept fluctuating on that dreadful Sunday. And I spent one night in the hotel and not two (hotel was a Hyatt Regency).
