Derry and parts of Donegal saw up to three inches of snow last night while many other parts of the country experienced flash flooding.

According to AA Roadwatch, N13 Letterkenny/Ballybofey Rd is partially blocked due to heavy snow at Drumkeen. Also very poor conditions along this route at Lurgybrack. The Limavady mountain road is also closed while the A2 Clooney Road in Derry has now reopened.

iWeather Online forecaster Peter O’Donnell commented: “This morning’s snowfall is the result of a cold front moving rapidly east through Ulster and Leinster. Mixed wintry showers will continue to sweep across the north through the morning and into the early afternoon. Most of these will be of hail or sleet with some further falls of snow on the high terrain.”

Top temperatures across Ulster will remain steady at 4-6c and as low as 2 C on higher ground.
