Mount Etna is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily, close to Messina and Catania.

Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is in an almost constant state of activity. The fertile volcanic soils support extensive agriculture, with vineyards and orchards spread across the lower slopes of the mountain and the broad Plain of Catania to the south. Due to its history of recent activity and nearby population, Mount Etna has been designated a Decade Volcano by the United Nations

Today, 08 Feb 2011 the volcano is continuing to emit steam.

Science does not deal in absolute proofs. The scientific method depends upon falsification of alternative hypotheses until only one remains.

Dramatic footage has been released of the Italian volcano Mount Etna blasting out lava and plumes of smoke.

The eruption took place on Sunday and Monday. The wind carried eruption fragments to towns of the large Sicilian city, Catania, but flight operations at the city were not affected.

Italian officials said 11,000-foot-tall Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, has calmed down after two days of activity. They warned however, that the Sicilian volcano might have fallen back into a short-lived slumber and another "active phase may just be around the corner."

Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is in an almost constant state of activity. The last significant activity at the volcano was on 13 January 2011 when lava fountaining occurred from the vent on the east flank of the Southeast Crater cone, lasting about 1.5 hours. Italian Authorities were forced to temporarily close airports for a couple of hours while the ash cloud cleared.

Mount Etna is erupting and seems to be more vigorous than expected
A rose must remain with the sun and the rain or its lovely promise won't come true.

Mount Etna eruption creates spectacular show.

Europe's biggest active volcano, Mount Etna, is putting on a spectacular show as it continues to spew lava.

Fountains of lava 200-250m high were recorded at the volcano, while gas, ash and debris have caused disruption at the nearby Catania airport.
