FROM IRISH CENTRAL: Ireland is known for its rich historical past. No stranger to conquests, hunger and tyranny, here are the top ten eras where living in the Emerald Isle was treacherous. In the top 10 is the winter of 1740: A severe weather front hit Ireland in the one of the coldest winters in Irish history in 1740.
