I flew over Dublin City and down the east coast today and the haze was so bad I had no visual horizon at 2,000 ft. Nice smooth air over the sea, then the minute we coasted in over the city near the Aviva, the turbulence started, with strong thermals in the boundary layer.

A Modis image of Ireland and Britain from space today. The ash cloud from the Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland can be clearly seen to the northwest of Scotland, off the coast of Norway.
