Eh, the METAR for Dubai Airport at 03 UTC this morning gave a temperature of 74 °C!

OMDB 280300Z 20002KT 5000 HZ NSC 74/12 Q1017 BECMG 3000

The synop report for the same time gave the correct temperature of 14.4 °C. Obviously the person typing in the METAR confused a 7 for a 1!

The front is almost stationary at the moment, finally cleared to drizzle here but seems the east coast is in for another few hours yet

Don't have my own station but a local one about a mile down the road is showing 198.1mm of rain today h-e-h-e Possibly 19.8mm which would seem more accurate

Temp 3.7C, steadily dropping

Thought my nearly 50mm of rain in Ashford might be wrong as all other reports were so much lower but this validates my readings. Where are your reports from???

Celbridge. The "Total Rain" quoted is since I got my weather station (two weeks ago!). My daily total since midnight is currently 21.9 mm.

This station in Ashford recorded just 26 mm today. Maybe your reading is wrong alright.

I've been keeping an eye on that station during the day but calibrated my gauge only last week and it really has been lashing all day long. I'm tucked into the uplands and the other station is a couple of km out on the plain. My rain butts have all filled and the surface water is way beyond normal so not sure if its a malfunction. Will check gauge when rain moves on?

In that case you could actually be getting orographic enhancement, as the southeasterly flow rises up the terrain. What altitude are you at?

That's not that high alright but there could be some local peculiarity causing higher rainrates in your area. Keep an eye on it and let us know what you find out!

Where did you find the Ballyshannon station Mark? Assume it must be Finner?

A brief max of 5.7C in Letterkenny but below 4C for most of the day, currently steady at around 2.4C. Beautiful day though, blue skies and sunshine all day
