Crane Drops Load At World Trade Center Construction Site.![]() NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A crane cable snapped sending a 30-ton steel beam crashing about 40 stories into a closed-off area at the World Trade Center construction site. The Fire Department says some of the beams fell on an unoccupied flat-bed truck which was delivering supplies to the site. Pablo Guzman reports one construction worker nearby suffered minor scrapes and bruises. He was looked at by emergency responders at the scene but was not taken to the hospital. The incident took place at about 10 a.m. near Church and Cortlandt Street at Four World Trade Center. It is unclear how high the load had been lifted before it dropped. Number 1 train service was suspended south of Chambers Street for about an hour. Link to video ......... http://newyork.cbslocal.com/video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=6749995 |
