Unseelie are the things of nightmares. The royalty of the unseelie are beautiful, pale, and deadly. They appear mostly human, but their powers are deadly. They control the darkest thing of the preternatural world. Ogres, goblins, wraiths, and anything else that haunts your nightmares that most believe are myths call themselves dark faeries. They are ruled by a High Queen that keeps herself in the shadows as she sends her darkest nightmares to reek havoc on the world around her in her pursuit of the light faeries. It is said that a single touch of her hand can kill with a poison so deadly that it's has been compared to the Bubonic Plague.

Underneath the High Queen are the other pure blood dark faeries. They appear to be human in nature and have powers in different deadly ranges. They are the ones that the High Queen sends out to infiltrate the humans, make the humans trust them, in order to find the light faeries and take them out. They are often seen of as the goth types that stick out by their uniqueness, however that isn't always the case. A few of the spies for the queen ignore their normal thoughts of how to dress and go with the more toned down in order to get closer to the light faeries. Either way, this is not a group you want to be around.

The rest of the unseelie hardly look human at all. Some of them are only half faerie, with the other half being something darker, more grotesque. Often times, these are the creatures that come out in the dark of night to destroy whole cities thought to house light faeries. Big and monstrous, they are often clumsy and very easy to spot. You do not want to see these guys coming at you in the middle of the night, because your death would be imminent.

Fey can breed with anything and, except for the pure-blood-minded seelie court fey, often do. The offspring of these liaisons are unusual creatures, blending characteristics of both parents, sometimes able to pass as a parent's creature type. In turn, these half-breeds mate and pass on a blend of features and abilities. After several generations, these mixed creatures often resemble things out of nightmares or a mad wizard's experiment.

These oddities generally are spurned by their non-fey ancestor's society. The seelie court fey view these creatures at best as pathetic half-breeds to be spurned with contempt and at worst as despicable perversions of all that is fey, to be hunted down and put out of their misery.
