Five thousand years ago, a Queen was born to the Faerie people with a beautiful dark twin sister. The Queen was blond and light, where her sister was dark. For two thousand years, the darker sister guided her Queen as an adviser, but she was jealous that she didn’t have the power. She wanted it for herself, but knew that she would never be able to kill her sister. Instead, she decided to take the dark aspects she had developed and become her own Faerie Queen. Taking some of her loyal Faeries with her, she made her own Mound, far from her sister, and began to collect the darkest, most nightmarish faeries in all the world. All the exiles of the Faerie world were drawn to this new Queen and her Dark Faeries. For a thousand years, every faerie exiled from her sister’s court joined her, as well as the ogres, goblins, and any other dark creature of the night.

Ruling her people of nightmares, she finally confronted her sister, explaining to her what she had done. She told her sister that she loved her, but she could no longer live in the light. She wanted nothing more than to live in the dark with the goblins and things that walked in the muck, the things that her sister no longer wanted to call Fey. Her sister, repulsed by what her twin had done and who she was hanging out with, commanded that no Seelie were to ever speak with the Unseelie. Soon it became that any Seelie fey who would be exiled would join with the Unseelie, just to be with their own kind. Or some form of their own kind.
