To work or not to work; During School

This is my first week of college and I keep on getting nag about quitting my job and focus on school. Even though I am enrolled as a full time student (13 credits), it's only two classes a day and one on Friday. I get an hour or two between classes to study and give or take two hours before work. So far, work is making me exhausted, but what I miss most is the sleep time.
Did you guys work while going to school? What's your schedule like?

You can start by telling us what you want in life first.

In the future:
Do you want a great job and get rich?
Or do you want a normal job?

I want a job I would enjoy doing with decent pay (under 50k a year is average, right? I don't care for being rich), but that's the thing, I really don't see myself interested in any profession that's actually practical.

The trend today is that more and more people are getting higher education (Masters, Ph.D.)
But the statistics for higher educated people are still in the growing phase, so you can still do just fine in life and be happy without any college education today.

With some luck and charm (for use during interviews) you can find a 50K-paying job without any collegege degree. 30K-paying jobs are easy to find, especially if the job has something do to with health (hospital).

I recommend that you at least get a bachelor-degree as backup (in case some bastard who can smooth-talk better than you finds the same job as you).
Make sure you have a UNIQUE resume that will distinct you from the rest.
Also, if you decide to get a part-time job, it should has some relevance to your major. It will help you later when you're done with school and are applying for a full-time job.

I forgot if I answered your question or not :bouncesmiley:

Keep the job if you can handle it + school (you better get good grades)
Keep the job if you're having financial problems.
Drop the job if you have parents that take care of you.
Drop the job if you're still living with your parents.
Drop the job if it has no use for you in later life.

You can always continue your job out the semester and see what kind of grades you're getting. Remember that the courses gets harder for each year :superhappy:
One more thing, how about getting a job at school...? Student assistent job? Work at the library could also work (you get to study).

Well, according to your guidance, it all points to me quitting my job. I plan on completing college with at least (probably) a bachelor degree. So... So?
What makes a resume unique?

I'm getting my bachelors but I'm going to stop there. It's hard working as much as I do and going to school. But I'm fucking awesome as hell so it wont be too hard.
