I'm quite curious to know what people think upon the subject, as time is a subject I contemplate quite often. I've come up with some strangely compelling notions, but would like to hear what others feel about the subject. You don't need to have a quantum physics degree to think about how time works. I hate math and the topic still fascinates me. Let me know. I want to hear. Stuff to discuss: Do you ever think about time, how it works, whether it's a natural force or a man-made illusion? Do you believe that time can be manipulated or that time-travel is possible? Or maybe that's all sci-fi nonsense and we're deluding ourselves? Have you heard any crazy or interesting theories about time? |

This is time as I understand it: Time is inseparable from mass and space because without time we cannot perceive anything. If you open up your physics books and look at all the units for things that we measure, most of them have a time portion to them (i.e. speed is measured in distance per unit time, acceleration is distance per square unit time, force is mass times distance over square unit time etc etc). The only real unit that isn't dependent on time is distance itself (and those dependent on distance such as area, volume, etc). This gets a little tricky and I'm not sure it'll come across well via text. Based of the Theory of relativity, time distance can bend and change depending on speed (that's kinda hard to explain but there are a ton of good articles on line about the theory of relativity). Since time and distance are dependent on your speed, distance itself is dependent on speed, which is dependent on time (distance per unit time). If that makes any sense.... There are a bunch of holes in that thought, but without the ability to perceive independently it's hard to separate time out, and have any idea of what it actually is. |

Time is a measurment, a manmade concept. Distance, time, mass, weight, all just measurments used together to attempt to explain physics. What's important is Lux, Lamberts, Lightspeed, and such. Time is only relative when measuring. Of course time/distance differs with speed, all measurments will vary when non constants are changed, this is why a 'non' constant is known as a variable. Those changing other variables. Constant measurements are not true constants...... a second is as important as a millimeter. Important to the mind, but still just a measurment. I'm way too tired and losing my mind. Read 'A Brief History of Time'
