Here's a question for all of you experts at the use of english.

http://www.devinquest.com/games/tftrivia
This is a Transformers Trivia game. It requires Shockwave to run. Shockwave is also the name of a Transformer.

Ironically Shockwave won't install on my PC, so I can't play it.

Question: is the above statement in fact, irony?

Not really, the Schockwave in question is the name of the software, not the character, nor an indirect irony, more like coincidence.

Well its not a simile
If you was looking for info on shockwave and you needed shockwave to get it that would be ironic so no its just a pain in the arse

No, it's not ironic.
Zim: "WE'RE DOOMED! DOOMED!"
Gir: "YAY!"
Zim: "No Gir, that's a bad thing"
~pause~
Gir: "YAY!"

"Ironic" by Alanis Morissette should be called "unfortunate", theirs no realy irony in it.
