Capitalism is a tool of the ruling class to make the poor poorer and the rich richer. Socialism (in a limited sense of course) could be the solution. If we were to raise taxes on the rich and redistribute the money to the poor. The United States would be a better place. We have a luxury problem in the U.S.. It's ok that people cannot afford to buy gas so they can't make it to their jobs sometimes as long as some other person buys a Hummer. Why? Because it helps the economy more. In the opinion of a capitalist, it is actually better for the country if someone buys a Hummer while someone else cannot even drive their '92 Cavalier to work at McDonalds than if that same Hummer purchaser was to buy a less expensive car because taxes took away his excess to give to the McDonalds guy for gas. Some of you are going to disagree with me. Those of you that do had better be rich, because if you're poor and you disagree with me then you're stupid because Socialism exists to help you out. My friend argues that production will decrease if we go to a Socialist system. That may be a legitimate argument, but it is only speculatory. He can say that all he wants, but he cannot prove it. I can prove that there are people in the U.S. that get paid millions of dollars to drive racecars while their fans can hardly afford the cable to be able to see the big race. Also, who cares if production goes down some for a while. In the long run, giving money to the poor will empower them to continue education making the next generation even more productive than this one. Well, that's all for today, folks. I'm off to eat a steak dinner for $50, but I'm only going to leave the poor waitress a $2 tip. |

Too much dependence on money. People should be able to live happy healthy lives without money. Small self sufficient communities would be ideal. |

...how would you know? sure Communism was a disaster in the U.S.S.R., but what about Spain?...George Orwell's Homage to Catalonia paints a picture of a anarchist/socialist state which sounds like it would have been worth fighting for...and what about the Zapatistas in Mexico?...or Fidel Castro's Cuba? |

Yes. Argue my point about how they look good on paper by telling me how good they looked in George Orwell's book. |

Ok. Let me reiterate since you can't take the time to go read five posts above this one. I said "Socialism is like Communism or Anarchism, they look good on paper would never work in real life." You responded to me by saying "...how would you know? sure Communism was a disaster in the U.S.S.R., but what about Spain?...George Orwell's Homage to Catalonia paints a picture of a anarchist/socialist state which sounds like it would have been worth fighting for...and what about the Zapatistas in Mexico?...or Fidel Castro's Cuba?" Now two things about that. One, you said "How would you know?" That was asking a question of me making it my buisness. Two you responded to what I said (one more time, "they look good on paper") by saying I wouldn't know because George Orwell made them look good in his book. A book is paper. Then you got really confused and started ranting. I'll spell anything else you need out. Just ask. |

...E.X.P.L.O.I.T.A.T.I.O.N. ...it's a rather dull argument. ...but as I said, I think I've already contributed enough to your buisness so I won't be "ranting" about anything else... |
