The True Face He follows his moral code and would rather lose than break the rules. He stands up for himself, others, and for what is right. Even in the face of overwhelming odds, he will stay true to his beliefs and fight the good fight. He is truly a role model for children and adults alike. The kind of person you'd want your kids looking up to. Example: John Cena, Daniel Bryan The Adaptive Hero He accepts that in order to defeat the bad guys you sometimes have to bend the rules a little. Maybe even break them. He prefers to stand fast in his moral code, but knows a few underhanded tricks if his opponent insists on playing dirty. Example: Ric Flair (face), Eddie Guerrero The Hidden Bad Ass He is jovial and always having fun. He can come off as goofy or even naive. But when push comes to shove and their opponent has crossed that line they are more than capable of pushing back. And when they do you better believe there is a can of whoop ass about to get opened. Example: Santino Marella, Jerry "The King" Lawler The Anti-Hero He utilizes the psychology of a heel. Has a heel-like gimmick or uses heel like move sets and strategies in the ring. But he has the support and admiration of the fans and typically feuds against heels keeping in the favor of the fans. Example: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock (face) The Tweener He is the rarest and hardest to successfully play, blurring the lines between a heel and a face. He's as comfortable against a heel as he is against a face. Often he is transitioning form one to the other. But could spend his entire career in "limbo." Example: Shawn Michaels, Triple H The Cocky Franchise He becomes champion because he deserves to be, because it is his destiny. When that does not come to pass it is not because he wasn't good enough. But because of meddling faces, conspiracies, or some other random excuse. He doesn't see himself as a heel and doesn't understand why the fans don't like him and demand that they do. In his mind is a gifted competitor who deserves respect and wins by any means necessary. Example: The Miz, Alberto Del Rio The Vengeful Villian He is on a mission (sometimes a championship, sometimes revenge) and will stop at nothing to accomplish it. He often employs lackeys and henchmen to do his bidding and has no problem sacrificing them in order to accomplish his goals. He blames others, usually the face, for everything that has gone wrong and believes in destroying the face all will be righted. Example: Raven, Seth Rollins, CM Punk (SES) The Monster The monster is not a man and therefore does not operate by the same rules. He doesn't necessarily cheat as much as he simply destroys his opposition through blunt force. He appears unstoppable, unbeatable at times. He almost seems to enjoy inflicting as much physical punishment on the face as humanly possible often stopping to enjoy his handiwork. Pain and destruction are his business and business is good. Example: Brock Lesnar, Kane The Coward He may have talent, he may not, but for whatever reason he doesn't have the faith in himself to go in and get the job done straight up. But he does get it done through underhanded tactics. Foreign objects, outside interference, pulling the referee in the way, hiding, and generally using any and all methods of cheating to pick up the victory. The fans despise him but he honestly doesn't care because more often then not he ends with a big win in the record books. Example: Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho (WCW heel) |
