The Sigma Games Forums Code of Conduct (CoC) In order to keep anyone from losing interest, I'll make this as short as possible. THE RULES 1: Play Nice! In other words: no flaming. Be respectful to other users and try to keep a positive attitude. 2: Watch the Language! No cursing, profanity, vulgarity, or saying anything that would offend anyone of a particular race, nationality, religion, etc. Certain words writing boards for atmosphere, but even there should be used sparingly. 4: No Adult Material! Keep all content rated T for Teen. This also means no linking to websites that contain adult material. 5: NO SPAM! Keep your posts a decent length (preferably more than one sentence, and ALWAYS more than one word!), and do not post repeatedly simply to gain post count. Post count is irrelevant to your actual prestige here on the forums; the "ranks" available are just for show. Also, do not double-post; that's what the "edit" button is for. You may only "bump" a thread ONCE per topic. 6: No Advertising! You may post a link to your personal website in your profile and your signature, and you may link to certain web pages when they are relevant to the topic. You may NOT post a brand new thread or send private messages to advertise for a particular site. Also, please keep links to your website in your signature small and unobtrusive (no flashing ad banners). 7: No Alternate Accounts. Only one account is allowed per person. Secondary accounts will be deleted upon discovery, and your original account will be warned. If you make a second account to sidestep a suspension or high warn, both accounts will be banned. You may only make a second account if it is for your sibling or someone else who lives in your household. Please mention the reason for your second account in your new account's reply to the Member Confirmation Topic. 8: No Posting for Banned Members. A bit of an odd one to have to spell out, but a rule nonetheless. If someone has been banned from the site then they can come back, but it's up to the Admins and Mods, not you. So if someone is currently banned don't post anything on their behalf. 9: The Respect Rule. Last but not least, you must show the proper level of respect to all forum administrators and moderators. Arguing with the administration can get you banned. If you think a mod is abusing their power, report them directly to a higher level mod or an admin. Those are all of the "rules," but here are a few other things to keep in mind: No "playing mod," just report bad posts. You are not a moderator. That means, when you see a post that breaks the rules, do NOT reply with a 'mod-playing' post like "That's spam, you troll. This will be closed." First of all, you don't have the authority to make such a decision or take such an action, and secondly, you're just like feeding the troll by replying and making the problem worse. Instead, click the REPORT POST button and let a moderator handle it. IF YOU BREAK THE RULES... You have a warn meter. If you break the rules, you could be warned by an admin or moderator. Each time you are warned, it increases your warn meter by 20%. After five warns, your warn meter will hit 100%: You can probably guess what happens then, but I'll tell you anyway: You will be banned. Of course, if you prove that you learn from your mistakes and behave well, then a mod or admin may see fit to remove some of your warns eventually. But this happens rarely, and only when the mod or admin sees fit. So it's best not to get warned at all. Okay, I've probably scared the wits out of you by now, but it's really nothing to worry about. Most of the rules are pretty obvious. Just be polite and act civilized, and I'm sure we'll get along. Welcome to The Sigma Games Forums, enjoy your stay... |
