no new movies nterest me anymore, its been ages since i really wanted to see a movie, instead all i do is watch the older ones, like pre '95 ones ( i know that that isnt old but, thats as new as i seem to like)

where are the modern apocalypse nows?

where are the godfathers?

or are tv shows just getting that good that i dont give a shit about movies?

list of recent excellent tv shows ive bought

Rome - 2 seasons
Deadwood - 3 seasons
The Unit - 2 seasons

and the list goes on, i named these ones to highlight that these are post 95 tv shows, that i seem to like new "proper" story driven tv shows, and not souped up days of our lives shit.

so am i wrong here, or is something going wrong with movies? they have no depth and are made for the brain-dead fuckwits with no attetion spans? ( present company excluded). i just feel modern movies are dumbed down, and are made soley to make $. it all feels so fake.

Agreed. These days movies are made by a commitee of beancounters who only care how much it grosses in it's first weekend and how much merchandise thay can flog off.
They use test audiences who didn't like the lack of a traditoinal hollywood happy ending and then reshoot some tacky crap to edit in because of a few suggestions by morons scrawled on paper.
And there is nothing, absolutely nothing new.
Now excuse me while I go off to watch Saw XIII and the next remake of a remake of a 70's TV series and see if the characters actually have any lines at all between the cliche's let alone more than 2 dimensions.

Unfortunately people it's just supply and demand. 90% of the human race are lemmings and will love what they are told to love. It's up to the rest of us to find our own stimulation, and in terms of cinema, TV and music that usually means going backwards.

Not to say there aren't exceptions to the rule, but you just have to look harder.

I recon i watch 3 Old movies for every one new one. Old movies are def the go. I love watching an old classic i've never seen before for the first time as well.

100% agreed with Thumbs. i much more enjoy watching an older film with a reputation than a new film with next to no innovation.

there are diamonds in the rough occasionally, and they are just as rewarding to watch as the classics.... as Mazoo said, they are just very uncommon these days :(

I like movies where I don't have to think because its more relaxing and everynow and then I will watch a story driven movie. But a test of a movie is if people are still talking about it in 10-20 years.
