Ok, so I got back into this again after being massively distracted for a while. Have upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04. Was as simple and selecting the upgrade option to do so. Have configured the Vram to be used as swap in order to tweak the speed a little, since it's a hell of alot faster than swapping off the hard drive. Seems to have made a nice improvement. Really need to work on the resolution issue. Killing my eyes. |

There's already a massive one out called the interwebs. ![]() Managed to get my res to 720p using HDMI. Looks much more vibrant but it only reduced the flicker, not removed it completely. Bit more bearable though. Only seems a problem with fine lines. Definitely faster using the vram as swap, but still rather sluggish. Have set up the Bluetooth Sixaxis software, and it all seems to be working according to the doco, but it ain't actually happening... |

It's becoming increasingly evident that setting this up is a bit of a waste of time. As much as I tweak it, native linux games only just barely run happily so long as I have everything else closed. Very easy to bog this thing down. As a comparison, my little Acer Aspire One netbook is running the same version of Ubuntu and is at least twice as fast, if not more. The lack of direct access to the GPU really gimps this thing. SNES emulator is setup, will chuck some Rom's into it tonight. |
