I'm a little surprised no one has started a thread about this already, given the love of killing zombies we all share.

(if there is a thread then it didn't show up in the search function....)

This game is a gem.

In case you haven't heard of it, it's by popcap - the guys behind peggle, and clearly the gurus when it comes to re-imagining games for the 'casual' market.

Essentially, it's a take on the "tower defence" genre, but without the boring bits. Sort of the Drumstick of Tower Defence, if you like.

The gameplay basically consists of zombies coming in from the right of the screen and you planting various er, plants each of which has a different purpose in preventing the zombies reaching the left of screen.

For example;
Pea-shooters, for example, fire peas and are the basic 'turret gun'
Walnuts block zombies, as the zombie has to destroy the walnut before it can pass.
Sunflowers create extra sunbeams, which are the currency used to buy plants.

The zombies come in different flavours as well, which are gradually introduced as the game progresses - for example, zombies with traffic cones on their heads take more shots to kill, while pole-vault zombies can vault over a single obstacle such as a walnut.

The garden has five rows, which takes away the frustration felt in some tower games when you stick down towers only to find that the enemy pathing takes a different route.

As the game progresses, things get mixed up further - although I lost my save with my re-install of Vista so haven't got to some of the later stages (eg, I've seen in reviews that later on youre in the backyard, with the middle two lanes being the backyard pool... hence different strategy needed).

It's all presented with a huge dose of humour, and very amusing stylised cartoon graphics and sounds. It also seems like it would run on a very low spec PC.

Oh, and theres minigames that crop up as well, like zombie bowling, which just serve to break up the main game rather than being frustrating as minigames often can be.

It's massive fun, and you can pick it up off steam fairly cheaply so I encourage everyone to give it a go.
yo listen up here's a story
about a little guy that lives in a blue world
and all day and all night and everything he sees
is just blue like him inside and outside
blue his house with a blue little window
and a blue corvette
