We need to hype this shit up!!!

Quote:

SYDNEY, Australia – August 14, 2009 – Home Entertainment Suppliers Pty Ltd (HES) today announced the development of Rugby League 3 for Nintendo Wii™, by leading games developer Sidhe. The game continues the highly successful “Rugby League” franchise, which is amongst the highest selling franchises of all time in Australasia.

“We are extremely pleased to be publishing a new Rugby League title with such fresh features, content, and innovations across the board,” said David Robles, Business Development Manager for HES. “Rugby League 3 is a significant and worthy addition to the franchise”.

The features and content of “Rugby League 3” include

* Visceral Wii Remote motion controls bring the physicality of Rugby League into your living room
* 80+ licensed teams from competitions such as the NRL, Super League, Toyota Cup, UK Championship, UK Championship 1, State of Origin, City v Country and internationals
* 38 stadia from Australia, New Zealand, UK and France
* Team level gameplay features including defensive line controls, attacking strategy selection, team confidence, and AI support play
* Build a champion team in the Multi-year Franchise Mode including advanced player management, Dally M Player of the Year and Man of Steel, club records and optional manual rep selection
* Create and customise players, teams, and competitions
* Broadcast style presentation with enhanced replay angles, match highlights, and in-game commentary from Channel Nine’s Andrew Voss

“The production team has been able to leverage significant past experience and extensive feedback from consumers in the development of this title” said Mario Wynands, Managing Director of Sidhe. “As a result, Rugby League 3 takes the series to new heights, delivering a richer, deeper and more immersive experience than ever before.”

Rugby League 3 is expected to be released for Nintendo Wii in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and France in Q4 2009. More information about the game can be found at http://www.rugbyleague3.com

Let's analyse some screenshots!

Despite the very nice graphical improvements, the big reveal here is the strategy options. Even the most basic of setups in this area would be an improvement. In fact, I'm glad it's relatively basic, because I wouldn't want it to affect the flow of the game.

Posted Image

I'm liking the bar at the bottom. Much more like a televised event.

Posted Image

Despite the entire grandstand and lighting effects coming across as looking pretty good, there's also a hidden gem hiding up between the goal posts. The grounds now have big screens showing the action on the field.

Posted Image

A few things from this one. Stats are now out of 100, the Celtic Crusaders are included which shows the rosters isn't incredibly out of date, but most importantly is the positioning of the Wii-mote in the bottom corner.

Posted Image

Season mode is definitely a bit more than just going from game to game, it seems. Will be interesting to see how this training is implemented.

He is not really what you would call a dashing player. Definately could have picked a better flashier player.I think they might be worried about asking other players to do it just in case they get up to mischief

It's a decent little system. Just needs people to push its abilities instead of slapping together cheap graphics and a motion controlled gimmick.

I play Endless Ocean on the Wii. Yeah, the fish patting game. Look past that though, and it's a beautiful stress reliever that really uses the Wii to its strengths. I'm hoping RL3 pushes it to new limits as well.

I think it’s the new one at least, its on the main sharks webpage, apparently the one they will be wearing in round one will feature the name of every single club member. I don’t like it but it’s a look better than the white / grey away jersey abortion that we had a few years ago.

You're right, I just realised that the actual players on the main banner to the Sharks site are wearing the new jersey. Looks even worse in real life.

Bloody weird seeing Chuck Morris in a Sharks jersey. Gonna miss the guy. Crap halfback, but he should never have been played there. Was always busting his arse every minute of the game and was as safe as houses in defence.

Some weirdness is going down in regards to a PS3 and 360 version...

Sidhe have continuously denied that they are working on anything but a Wii version, as it was unfeasible for them to cost-wise to create a game on those consoles.

Before it was announced as a Wii game, Manly were auctioning off signage for Brookvale that would appear in a new RL game for the PS3 and 360. No mention of Wii. It was shrugged off as a stuff up because the game wasn't yet officially announced.

Now, Chrisco in NZ have adverised this PS3 package for next year -

Notice the lack of a Sidhe logo?

The funny thing is, while Mario, one of the heads of Sidhe, have been helping to fuel the conspiracy theories, he has at no point flat out denied it's existence. Could it be that HES, the publisher that actually owns the RL rights, has got someone else to do the job?
