Some people think its for that and most do post daily babble, but depends on how you use it, occasionally I'll post that Im listening to something or doing something to share ideas or music, but its also useful for company's to market stuff or post useful things faster than on a blog or on their website, like software apps I use or tutorial sites its quicker to ping something out that way than a full blown post. Some company's use it to post competitions that otherwise wouldnt be marketed any other way. I agree its a bit of a time waster and useless in some cases, since its a micro-blogging type tool, but its useful once you've been using it for a while. Since I've joined I've met quite a few people on there that do similar things to me or interests, surprising how small Perth is when you follow one person who's met another person in real life etc. Depending on your use and expectations it can be crap, to me its a bit of both sometimes its crap and useless other times useful to keep up to date with my interests. I have Facebook too. I only joined though a month or two ago, I held off doing that, but since I like to see how social media works and websites work for research into future jobs etc its always handy to keep up to date with progression, though Facebook is a bloated goat, I rarely use that, and it tends to crap out when navigating so nothing becomes clickable.

It really helps you connect with people who have similar interests. People post their blogfeeds to twitter and its a great way to keep everything in one place. Far better than Facebook IMO.
