even though its not out yet, i thought we could kick it off. this is a great way to improve driving ( not racing ) skills. rules are simple, a car class is selected, and a track, in one weeks time, whoever has the fastest time in said car on said track gets to pick the next car/ track. the catch is, no ABS, no STB, no TC, in fact, no assists at all. ( auto isnt an assist.) i'll kick off. C class car, and the track that is 5th from the left on track selection screen. week closes fri 30th 9pm aest. |

what good about this is, if you normally use assists, you then have to beat that time without them. it was good when we did this with F2, dark always won though. |

Scoreboards seem set up to account for alerts. Longer time with no alert is better than shorter time with alerts. Incentive to drive cleanly and not cut corners. I'm going to put some laps in on this tomorrow. I'm guessing we score from the "hot lap" selection? |

Yeah I have noticed that happen to me in the career. Sucks that it has changed your time in the time trial. They need to fix this if it considers a clean lap better than a faster one. |

i go into the Hot Lap of free play, and just go for it, im not too worried about setup, i pick a setup in a car after tuning and never change it again. |

I think that's the point though, as I said. A gran turismo style "grinding off the barriers" lap doesn't count. Or any other dirty laps. To be honest, from what i read, I was expecting that a lap with alerts doesn't even get posted. The fact is that to get a good position on the leaderboard it has to be a clean lap. That sounds completely reasonable to me... if you can't race a clean lap, you don't deserve a top spot. Personally, I'd add two further conditions to our little comp - you have to use in car or bonnet view, and you have to post a clean lap. Edited by felicitous blue, Sunday Oct 25 2009, 12:33 AM.
