In short - this game is fun.

The deck consists of:-

The turntable - has 3 coloured buttons on it
The crossfader, effects dial and euphoria button.

To play the game (on the harder difficulties) you have a lot of stuff you need to be doing. You tap the coloured buttons, scratch them (you hold the button down and 'rub' the deck forwards and backwards), use the crossfader to move the lines on the screen sideways, use the effects dial to distort the music (also doubles your multiplyer) and use the euphoria (read: star power) button to activate it when you have done enough perfect sections (read: star power phrases). There are also some more advanced notes at the higher difficulties. Sounds hard, but after 10 minutes on this game I could 5-star a song on expert.

The music is varied, with a lot of different artists including Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, Rhianna, 2Pac, Jay-Z, 3rd Eye Blind, Bell Biv Devoe, Grandmaster Flash, No Doubt/Gwen Stefani, Queen (they seem to really like The Jackson 5 and Beastie Boys). Im not really into dance music, but they all have good beats which is all you need in this game. Apparently theres over 90 songs.

There are certain sections where you press a button to use sound/voice samples. Apparently you can use a mic to 'freestyle' if you like. I havent tried it yet.

For multi you can play DJ + guitar on certain songs, which is fun. Theres also DJ vs DJ, which I had a go of on Live and won.

There is no jack to put your headset in on the deck, which is a pain. There is a small jack of the right size, but the surrounding area doesnt allow for your headset to fit. Maybe if you had a chatpad headset it would work. It can come apart so you can use it lefty or righty. Because it does this, it looks possible to connect 2 turntables to the switch part. But I didnt see any option to use 2 decks.

I find this game more fun to play than Guitar Hero (except GHIII), probably because I can play it on hard. :P

well, I got it and I agree it's brilliant.

Nice selection of tunes, varied and not all what you would expect. Not a big fan of the hip hop, but some of the other mash ups are inspired.

Just started playing on hard - as always, huge jump from hard to medium and it's a damn sight harder than GH in my opinion... the analogy of rubbing your belly while patting your head is apt.

In that context, the fact you can't actually fail a song is a brilliant choice (at first, it seemed a bit of a cop out). You may not fail, but if you stuff up a lot on the harder difficulties you're faced with long stretches of near silence - enough of a motivator to get it right.

Doubt the metal heads would like it, but as a rythmn action game it's up there with the best of GH/Rock Band
