Sniper: Ghost Warrior

Seems the devs have got together and decided to make a game just for Necris. Since i spend a fair proportion of my time looking down the scopes.....this game is looking pretty sweet....If they do it right that is.

Sounds interesting, and could be pretty decent - If done right. Though one thing that worries me is the usual run and gun stuff, whats stopping them from making 3/4 of the game like that, and just a small pick of missions that use the said sniper that IN THE TITLE.

Like other games that incorporate sniper rifles, Ghost Warrior features a focus mode that can be activated to slow down time and highlight potential targets.

I really really really hope that doesn't make it into the game, that same feature has ruined earlier version of that game.....

haha....yes, i cringed at the same thing.....Realism would be nice and that ain't. Make players use their frigging head!! Target Photo's on Mission Briefing, Rank Identification ect ect

I did notice how they want to make you play two people, one being the Sniper and the other being the ol run and gun grunt. You would think that'd prolly make it 50:50 but i hope its more Sniping than the other

Necris I told you about this game about a month ago, I showed you a YouTUbe uRL a while back about it.
Its all hyped up but to me the graphics look a bit naff as if its dated a little.

Generally Sniper games turn out terrible, its never done right, the only one I found that came close was that Sniper one of WW2 type that had bullet time when you took a head-shot (i forget the name maybe Sniper Elite?) that had to take into account the wind and use the mil-dots on the scope correctly.

The others like Marine Sharpshooter were fun in coop but really poorly executed.

So far, Sniper: Ghost Warrior is a promising entry in the FPS genre, especially considering its low price (40 dollars for the 360 version). With 16 missions spanning eight to ten hours of gameplay, there should be plenty of sneaking around to do when Ghost Warrior launches later this year.

Thats prob USA pricing but that means its a bargain bin title thus being its likely utter shite, however I'll still hold a burning vigil in hope its better than what im thinking.

During our demo of the game, we watched as a sniper, wading through waist-deep vegetation, lined up a shot on two unsuspecting soldiers who were standing on the far side of a pair of cliffs spanned by a rope bridge. To set up a shot, you press the left trigger (on the Xbox 360 controller), which brings up the scope. The scope HUD has a lot of information--including the obligatory crosshairs, as well as a shifting red dot that is used on the easy difficultly level to show you exactly where your bullet will make impact (taking into consideration factors like wind and the natural arced path of a bullet's flight). At higher difficulty levels, that red dot is not available, and you'll be required to make the adjustments yourself. Another meter in the HUD measures your heartbeat; if your heart rate is normal (around 80 beats per minute), you're considered calm and can easily line up a shot. If you're under pressure and your heart rate is elevated, it will be more difficult to set up shots.

Sounds ok here adding some decent realism though.
Read the gamespot preview of it, sounds half-decent, just hoping its implemented well, though I suppose it would be tough to make a realistic game without having the players hand held with cetain elements like a radar for enemies and their tension levels, it could be done but Im sure most people would complain its too tough then.

By the sounds of it though no coop. that would be the greatest addition to this having a 2 man team do these missions.
Makes me want to play GRAW2 for some reason in multi/coop.

yes i saw this awhile ago, and I have been keeping track since. Mainly because I love jungle games. Anything that's in the jungle, bush well anywhere in nature but especially the jungle. That's why I loved Far Cry and MGS Snake Eater. Hope this turns out ok and not naf.

Im skeptical on this. As with any Sniper game ever released they end up shit, whether its the voice acting, the graphics, the actual gameplay and realism theres always something that lets the sniper games down heavily.

The idea is there, im just not sure how the AI and everything will be... I have a feeling like those shitty Marine Sharpshooter games on PC.

Though Im hopeful.

yes I remember those pc sharpshooter games. They were woeful. Lets see how this one pans out, but i'm guessing there must be other elements to it than just hiding and sniping. You can do that in COD.

GTFO with COD.. You cant snipe in COD, most of the maps are CQB or Close-Combat scenarios.
Ill let that COD reference slip just this once.

I doubt theres much to the game other than missions involving sniping a target, finding intel and recon missions.

Yeah I have to admit, as good as people want to think COD is, it's "nothing" like these kind of games. Also, I actually have a copy of one of the earlier sniper games for the PC (Based in WWII i think) and the voice acting was a tad naff, but i found it to be a pretty solid experience, and from the few vids I've seen of this one so far, plus watching the multiplayer in HD, it's looking to be a very good looking and smooth playing game. Though you cant help but be curious since its not going to be a retail price game.

The big question on this one for me is how 'bigger let down' is the non sniper missions going to be....the ones that consist of supposed COD elements of run and gun ect, the ones that are apparently going to take up 50% of the missions
