Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds: After a decade of waiting, iconic Marvel and Capcom characters join forces again in a re-envisioned team fighting game for a new generation. Fill the shoes of legendary characters from the most beloved franchises in entertainment as you battle in a comic book brought to life powered by Capcom’s MT Framework. Get set for the ultimate faceoff when Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds hits PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in spring 2011.

The rumours have been spreading rapidly about this game since some Marvel execs rocked up to Captivate last week. Today, they finally confirmed it along with a few other games.

From the info that has snuck out, the rumours are that it will be hi-def 2D with a shit ton of characters. Will apparently be playable in some form at E3.

I hope it's true about the h-def 2D. I've been playing BlazBlue recently, and it's everything Streetfighter 4 should have been, as far as graphics are concerned. Looks gorgeous, and a dam sight better than 3D models with low detail. I'm fine with the 3D backgrounds as in MvC2. They were pretty cool.

Have to try to not get too pumped just yet... Gonna be a looooong wait....

Considering it's still a year off, I'd say this came about just after the acquisition. It's something both Marvel and Capcom have wanted to happen for a while, they just couldn't get their shit together.

i'm excited, and i have not been excited by anything of late that has come out, or will be coming out.

Here is the trailer.

LINK HERE

in its current state of production there are around 30 combatants in the game including Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk, Morrigan, Ryu, and newcomer Chris Redfield of Resident Evil fame. Based on the new trailer, it also seems like Dr. Doom, Deadpool, Magneto, Captain America and Chun-Li could also be in the game.

ah my links never work - but no doubt you will be able to hunt it down yourselves.

In the latest Game Informer magazine, Dante (Devil May Cry), Felicia (Darkstalkers), Deadpool and Captain America were listed as confirmed characters for Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Here's a list of details and impressions from the write up.

• MvC3 is using the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom scheme to be more accessible, but will retain stuff like Hyper Combo cancels, Snapbacks and assists.

• The game will have the alpha, beta and gamma assist types, just like in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

• MvC3 aims to knock down the wall of complicated controls and open up the field of strategic fighting to all comers. This means fusing the accessible controls of TvC with tried and true MVC2 gameplay.

• The game has simplified launch attacks which are universally performed with one button, the Exchange button. This can also be pressed along with certain directions to slam opponents into the ground, leaving them susceptible to combos. Players can also hit the Exchange button in midair to tag in other team members on the fly. You can also counter exchange moves by guessing the correct exchange move to input at the same time as your opponent.

• Deadpool's teleportation device will comically malfunction if you spam his teleport move. Also, he breaks the fourth wall by beating his opponents with his health bar.

• Chris Redfield uses his weapons from Resident Evil 5, his shotgun and the "shock stick."

• Moves from the previous games seemed to have been retained. Wolverine and Hulks' Supers are shown.

I don't mind Tatsunoku vs Capcom, but that is not the control scheme I want for this game. For those that don't know, there is no punch and kick in that game. It's just Light, Medium and heavy attack. BlazBlue is the same as well, but it has a different kind of tightness going on with it's gameplay, whereas Capcom have just gone for "accessible".

Also looks like this game is going 3D like SF4. Not a fan. There is so much more potential style in hi-def 2D, as BlazBlue proves.

Good to see Dante, Felicia and Deadpool in the roster.

Ok, I'm just going to link to this page for the sake of control...

Official Hi-Res Screenshots from Capcom

There's three levels of sizes on that page, so it's easier to just go there instead of posting the pics in here.

Stuff it, here's a couple to get you clicking...

OMFG. Those screens look good.

Hiss, is Bazblue good gameplay wise - tempted to pick it up. Is the mini-pad any good? I nearly purchased bazblue and SSF4 the other week, bazb for the stick cause I didn't bring my Hori...

I want tetsuo vs capcom, didn't get it cause I wasn't bringing my wii to sydney, will get it when I get back. Any game that lets me play as princess from Battle of the planets must be bought.

yo listen up here's a story
about a little guy that lives in a blue world
and all day and all night and everything he sees
is just blue like him inside and outside
blue his house with a blue little window
and a blue corvette
and everything is blue for him and hisself
and everybody around
cos he ain't got nobody to listen to

i'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

BlazBlue is really good! I didn't get the stick cause I bought it off Play Asia for $34 instead. It's been out for ages elsewhere so you can get a US copy for heaps cheap while we still pay full price.

Blaz and Tatsunoku have a similar style of play. Both have the L,M,H attack buttons (no punch or kick, just three buttons) and extra buttons for charging up or evade. More emphasis is now being put into timing, counters and combos than actually performing the moves so they're becoming more technical in a different way. BlazBlue is definitely the nuts when it comes to being technically deep though. Tatsunoku still has alot going on but has left itself more open to the casual crowd. Blaz is the kind of game you intricately study if you choose to get that deep. Much more for fighting fans.

The full character list for Marvel vs Capcom 3 has seemingly leaked early.

The list emerged via Flash coding on the Japanese Marvel vs Capcom 3 site, though it's since been altered to remove mention of other characters.

In any case, it's an interesting talking point, so here is the supposed character list in full:

Marvel: Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Mr Fantastic, Captain America, Iron Man, War Machine (alternate Iron Man outfit) Elektra, Thor, X-23, Magneto, Dr Doom, Shuma-Gorath, Emma Frost, Deadpool, Super Skrull, Taskmaster, Juggernaut, She-Hulk

Capcom: Ryu, Mike Haggar, Frank West, Chuck (alternate Frank West outfit), Spencer (Bionic Commando), Dante, Chris, Morrigan, Arthur, Amaterasu , Albert Wesker, Zero, Chun-li, Viewtiful Joe, Trish, Tron Bonne, Hsien-Ko, Akuma, Felicia

Not a bad line up at all if true. Not of MvC2 proportions, but decent none the less.
