Anyone know what happens when you report someone online via the XBL dash for code of conduct violation?
e.g someone in a game I was in was deadly serious in his abuse and violent claims all because I entered his "gang hideout" that he was in and wouldnt share it, so he really went off the rails on verbal abuse and death threats through the microphone (since its like MAG you can hear ppl close to you regardless).

I reported a violation through XBL for in game voice, but was curious since its pretty much just click an option and dont leave any details what happens?

Figured Hiss might know due to previous XB Ambassadorism.

On a side note.. after all the abuse and him starting the pvp fight. i managed to clip his horse and kill it while he was riding on it and the stuff he was saying wasn't nice either, this guy must have had some instability.. and his profile showed he was an Aussie too.

When you log it that way it feels seriously unsatisfying, but we were always told that was how it was done and all reports were most definitely looked into.

If that doesn't float your boat enough, you can either ring them and make a proper complaint on the usual "my 360 died again" number, or Private Message one of the staff on the official forums.

Ah ok, I wasnt too bothered about it, but this guy seriously needed reporting.

Was curious if they follow up with me asking for evidence or whatever and how would they prove what happened or do they issue a warning/temp ban on his account.

I believe it normally comes down to how many reports against him come in. It's understandable they have to let the one off complaints slide since so many dickheads make unwarranted reports. I have one against me for bad language, but I don't even use the mic unless I'm playing with you guys.

I remember the excitement of first getting Live on 360 and the honeymoon being broken when I got reported for bad sportsmanship (or whatever its called) because I beat someone in PGR (and I'd driven a clean race).

The system is open to abuse.... which by necessity removes its teeth.
yo listen up here's a story
about a little guy that lives in a blue world
and all day and all night and everything he sees
is just blue like him inside and outside
blue his house with a blue little window
and a blue corvette
and everything is blue for him and hisself
and everybody around
cos he ain't got nobody to listen to

i'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

Yeah thought as much.
Its open to abuse as its just a multiple choice selection to report.

If you get one report does it show up anywhere or warn you as you said Hiss, how did you find out you had one?

it's somewhere in your profile. Can't recall where though, and don't have access to my 360. Dig around and you should find it, I'd wager anyone who has been in Live long enough has a report against them

Your thinking of the Avoid Player thingo ay Blue? Where the results show up in your Rep, for whatever reason people have deemed.

Jammer, your talking about the actual Xbox Live Reporting, different to the Prefer/Avoid Player scenario right?

No no.. EDIT: Yes different to the avoid/prefer, I read wrong - underneath that option to prefer or avoid player is another one for reporting.

I did that, and its a multi choice of "violated/abusive personal message or private chat or in-game voice abuse & violation" options, its just basically select which the person did and report it, no spaces to enter any details of the persons violations.
