I've finished it and I kinda stumbled my way through - I didn't realize the squad could level up, and i didn't use a single ability the whole time.. Whats the point of playing through again as a tech guy or something? I didn't do any of the assignments which I'm guessing are all side missions? I only did the main story stuff and it was over pretty quickly - much quicker than I thought. There were only a couple times I couldn't get into a locker or somewhere because my tech skill was too low..

Do i play again? I can go buy ME2 right now...

Playing as a different class more so just gives you different abilities in combat. If you just like using your guns ect then the soldier class focuses more so on giving you big guns and abilities that help you with your fireworks display. Ie heightened accuracy, rage out ect ect. Going the technician means that your gun abilities are minimal but you have more options in using your wrist watch to hack enemies, overload shields ect ect.

....anyway long winded answer being wrapped up. You'd mainly play through again just to try a different approach to combat ect. I highly recommend at least trying a class with biotics like lift and push and level the shit outta them and watch the enemies get thrown around

if you enjoyed it, just go straight to ME2, its not going to change a hell of alot. you can always go back after ME2 and start a new character from scatch and play both games with it.

not sure about that, its more to make the main choices you made in ME1 have an influence on ME2, so maybe.

ive also heard that tech guys are more useful in ME2.

I think i might go back and go through it again and do all the side missions (assignments?) and see if I can start ME2 with this new guy... (from second play through)

Anyone got some expert tips or advice on things not to bother doing etc etc?

Yeah i couldnt get anywhere with anything most of the time in the conversations - what i chose was always a bit misleading (text choice would say something slightly different to whats actually spoken) so that bothered me, then I learn I cou;d have saved Wrex and THEN i learn i can have sex with one of the women! All this time I was choosing the hard ass response...

I really need a guide for this one, just for leveling and convos, not the actual fighting or upgrades....

After each mission, go talk to Liara B) Say nice things blah blah blah...BANG!!! Blue booty :D

You can re-class your character when importing them into ME2.....even change their appearance if need be. My recommendation would be to go back and re-play ME1 with your most ideal character and do all the side missions, because you'll see references continuously popping up in the second one.

Boost the shit out of your Charm/Intimidate skill as soon as possible and save Rex...........only if you want i guess

I'm really wondering why I had such a shit time with this game. I got stuck at a part where there was some head chick with two guards, and they would just slay me and my two other characters no matter what I did. Replayed it over and over till I got sick of the loading screen. I have a habit of making shit characters that sound interesting at the time, but I thought the other two would put up a decent fight. They die before I do.

That wouldn't happen to be with the Asari Lady Benezia would it?? with her Elite Asari biotic team? Was rather frustrating at first but i found the use of the sniper rifle rather handy then. Id run down to one of the sides and duck behind the box, take out all the guards coming in use a few biotic powers to flush them outta hiding and then concentrate on Lady Benezia

It's been too long for me to remember names. All I remember is it's on a snow planet where they can't get up to the lab for some reason and shit's all busted up in there. What you described sounds familiar because I tried something similar. Ran around to the side bits to take cover behind crates, used push to give myself some room, but ultimately, my guns were shit and I was outnumbered and overwhelmed very quickly.

Liara is the blue chick that joins my team?

I've already boosted my charm and intimidation to max (level 3) so I should get a chance to save Wrex!
