Making up for some lost time here... Both these games were announced at Comic-Con, though Tekken X StreetFighter is apparently a fair way off.

Tons of screenshots HERE

I don't like Tekken. I bought the Tekken 5 that's on PSN because it was pretty cheap for it's quality, but I've never liked it's style at all.

yes i think it was like virtua fighter? I'm not a fan of the 3d type of fighting systems. I found that it was too easy to just step sideways...
Plus it sucked haha :)

Nah, Virtua Fighter is awesome. A noob could never beat a technical fighter in VF. It was always solid.

Tekken is a button masher. I tried playing it properly, but you actualy do better if you just mash the shit out of buttons. Alot of the special moves involve hitting two buttons or something.

A big shit fight has broken out that is easier to follow HERE, given the constant updates.

To summarise, a clever little hacker as discovered all future DLC characters and costumes on the disc and has video of himself playing them and showing their endings. This includes the supposed PlayStation exclusives on the 360 disc. Capcom has been scambling around and having the videos removed from YouTube in total damage control, but new ones keep popping up.

Capcom should have known that pulling YouTube videos of on-disc DLC characters would result in a lot of backlash. To make matters worse is that after news broke about the on-disc DLC characters Capcom planned to sell back to gamers after Street Fighter X Tekken released, a group of pirates decided to leak the entire Xbox 360 version of the game onto torrent sites. Ouch.

Now they're digging a grave...

Quote:

Capcom has come forward about the on-disc DLC fiasco for Street Fighter X Tekken. For those that don't know, all the planned DLC for the game is already on the disc and fully implemented, however gamers won't be able to access the DLC until they pay for it, this fall. Even fanboys on the official Capcom blog are pissed about this.

Capcom let loose a PR-straight blog post on their Capcom Unity site [via Event Hubs] and basically said...

Quote:

Capcom has confirmed that 12 new fan-favorite characters will be available as Downloadable Content (DLC) on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of Street Fighter X Tekken later this year. The playable characters will make their debut on the PS Vita system when the game is released this fall, with the console and PC versions receiving them as DLC soon after.

The character information and files were intentionally included on retail versions of the PS3 and Xbox 360 game to save hard drive space and to ensure for a smooth transition when the DLC is available, allowing players who choose not to purchase the content the ability to play against players that did. More specifics regarding pricing, dates and other additional exciting DLC plans for Street Fighter X Tekken will be shared at a later date. As a reminder, the retail version of the game will be the only disc-based version consumers will need to own and all future upgrades will come from post-launch DLC.

Well let's get one thing clear. This IS NOT downloadable content, it's disc-locked content and unlike the Mass Effect 3 DLC this was not completed after the game went gold it was already a part of the game except it's just locked away until you pay extra for it, after you already buy the game with the content on it.

Now, the excuse is that the reason these DLC characters were included on the disc was to prevent incompatibility issues, however, this is not true. Characters can be patched or downloaded to a player's system if they decide to go against someone who does have the character or costume that they do not. This is something that used to be done back during the Quake II era. Alternatively, Capcom could have used the Dungeon Defenders method and simply have all the DLC downloaded when it becomes available as part of an update for those who do play online. Whether gamers will want to pay for it or not will be up to them.

Regardless, it's absolutely abhorrent that Capcom would defend why content already completed and finished on the disc can't simply be accessed. Gamers, regardless, will have to wait until the fall to access fully playable characters, as evidenced by the leaked gameplay videos. It seems ridiculous that gamers would even follow along this logic, paying $60 for a full game and then having to pay $5-$10 extra to unlock content already included on the disc that is part of the full game. Let's not forget that many of the Street Fighter characters are direct ports from Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition so it's not as if this was some financially burdenous endeavor.

Added to this, games usually have DLC in the pipeline if gamers enjoy the product. DLC is to help extend the game for those who enjoyed what they purchase not to gouge gamers who already own the content and must pay extra to access it. The least Capcom could have down was what Rockstar and Bethesda do: release the game, reap some sales and then release DLC based on the principle of extending the gameplay as an optional service to fans.

Nevertheless, Capcom knows they can get away with this. There are more gamers out there willing to be ripped off than gamers who would prefer to take a stand against this kind of cash gouging. Fighting game enthusiasts like myself would have been excited to pay extra for characters like Guy, Dudley, Bryan, Lars and Lei (to name a few) as DLC, but certainly not when they're already on a disc we already own.

It's a sad day in gaming given that a company can publicly admit to on-disc locked content and gamers throw up their hands and say "No probs, here's my money". It's a real sad sign of things to come in the gaming industry.

I have noticed this with Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 as well. I always thought the carry on about "unlock DLC" was stupid because even though it was only a 100kb download, it was released the same time as a hefty patch. It was obvious that this was how they got around the compatibility issue with online play, you were unlocking the character in the patch. I noticed this stopped with UMvC3. I'd by some DLC, put the game in expecting an update, and it never happened. Made me very suspicious, and this unfortunately confirms it.

What can you say about this? 12 whole characters locked away for timed releases to keep you shilling out. As much as we've suspected this for a while, to see our manipulation sheduled out like that really makes you feel dirty.

I was going to buy this game, but I find it insulting now. I think Capcom have finally milked me enough.

I confess, I caved and bought it last night. I like me some Capcom fighters, and beating the shit out of crappy Tekken characters is a bonus. As to whether or not I get suckered into the DLC is another matter though, but they did put up Pac-Man and Fat Fuck Mega Man as free downloads last night.

Not joking about Mega Man either. He's some sort of alternate reality version that's 30 years past his prime.

The extra character pack went up yesterday finally, a little less shiny since two of the characters were already given up for free when they were busted for on-disc DLC. They still want $30 for it though! Tie this in with the cost of the extra costumes and gems, and the complete game has easily cracked $200. Fucking ridiculous, and a real fucking shame since the game itself is pretty damn good.

Soul Calibur V can be found for a measly $36 at the moment. Think I might have seen it for $27 at one JB even. I actually added up the cost of the DLC though, and it comes to a whopping $147!

This is fucking ludicrous! Capcom and Namco are kidding themselves. Such a deadset shame their games, which I do like a fair bit, are now not worth buying because you're only getting half of what's on the disc and the rest costs double! You may as well slap a big "SUCKER!" sticker and smile as you buy it.
