If anything, just make it a damn option! Let the people choose. Surely can't be that hard to change

You wouldn't think so. Surely the standard method is far better suited to the split second reflexes that these games require? You'd think it's common sense.

Doesn't the pressure of the button pressing determine jump height? Or length held?

Length held, usually.

Yeh was thinking that after I posted, trying to recall the classic sonic play throughs and was definantly length held. Now, how are you supposed to do that with a release operated jump system? Pre-load a jump by holding it down for a bit longer? Can't afford that downtime dammit

I'm presuming that's what they were thinking, like loading a spring.

This is the first I've seen anyone complain about it though (and that was CVG btw), so it's either not the issue we think it is or it is just an option.

Awesome write up on both the console version and the 3DS version HERE.

No mention of the jump controls. Acually, nothing at all that doesn't sound anything less then AWESOME!!!

I have both versions pre-ordered (PS3 and 3DS). Wanted to make sure I got my mitts on this -

I still don't think the release date is entirely locked in, but I've been seeing the 4th November everywhere.

Would be cool to try sonic colours. I gave my wii to my sis.

Pumped for this game. The music on that trailer sounded like classic sonic music but new.....guess im trying to say it seemed fitting.

Do you have a 3DS hiss? If so, what's it like.

Must admit that special edition looks pretty cool. So does the game, even though I'm not a massive sonic fan (ie I like sonic games, so a fan but not a massive fan). Looks like it would be a nice collection to keep for nostalgia value down the track.

Mazoo got a 3DS about a month ago once the Pheonix Wright/Professor Layton game was pretty much confirmed for localisation. I'll likely inherit it if the release the leaf green one over here since I'll be smashing it with both Sonic and Shinobi.

It's an awesome little handheld. Shame there's no second analog stick, but the 3D actually works and looks really good.

I saw there is a pre order at JB, I really like the figurines, but I'm unsure of the pricing and if it's heaps i'll probably pass. I really enjoyed the demo that came out a few months back, it's just a shame I feel that only half the game will be in that type of game play. Still one to check out though.

Today we are excited to confirm that a second demo is incoming for Sonic Generations! Best of all, it’s coming really really soon – like really soon! The second demo for the game will be available via Xbox Live Arcade on 19th October across North America and Europe and PlayStation Network on 25th October for North America! You’ve been waiting patiently, you’ve seen the demos, videos and materials we’ve been teasing – now you can enjoy the demo a few days ahead of the full game release on November 1st!

The first demo, released on June 23rd 2011 – the anniversary of Sonic’s 20th year – allowed fans to play as Classic Sonic only. Now the second demo not only contains the Classic content you enjoyed, but now adds in Modern Sonic in the iconic Green Hill level from Sonic Generations! Take that Monday, this week just got a whole lot better!

YES! Bring on tomorrow night!

The demo is up and HOLY FUCK!!!! Classic Sonic is a bit more polished, sometimes feels a little too zoomed in, but is as awesome as it should be. What I'm truly stunned by is Modern Sonic! THIS is how he should have played since he went 3D! His level is far longer and action packed than Classic's and is just totally stunning from start to finish. I was worried it was going to be the part of the game I wouldn't want to play, but those fears are obliterated!

I also now got to give the game a run in 3D, and it's a little bit of a mixed bag. For most parts it looks brilliant, especially running into the screen as Modern, but ripping along in any side on view at top speed really blurs it up in places. He's just too damn quick! The PS3 seems to handle 3D alot better and that's the version I'm getting, so maybe that will be improved on my full copy.

PUMPED!!!
