PERSONALITY; Richard was born into a somewhat wealthy family on the outskirts of London. His father was a well-off factory owner who helped pioneer the Industrial Revolution a few decades before. Because of his father's income, Richard was able to attend college for a brief period before he was drafted into the British Expeditionary Force at the age of 16. Because of his college experience and lack of infantry officers in the trenches, he was almost instantly promoted to the rank of Leftenant. He first saw combat on the River Somme in France, where he lost every single soldier under his command. Those that didn't fall in No Man's Land or in the trenches fled the battlefield, and were eventually put on trial for desertion. Despite obvious signs of battle fatigue, or "shell shock", these men were sent to the firing squad. Lft. Winchester was forced to execute all six deserters by his superiors, something that has scarred him more so than the war itself. Like many others in the trenches, Richie turned to poetry as a temporary escape from hell, and it has helped him cope with the horrors seen firsthand. APPEARANCE ; Richard has very few noticeable scars on his face from the Great War. One under his eye that connects itself to his cheek, one on his left jawline, and one above his brow. They have faded with time. He almost always has his hair keenly kept and swept, a trait he has not and will not unlearn from his time in the service. Also has slight discoloration around the eyes and lips from exposure to mustard gas (kudos to whoever thought of that).
