Hello, i'm posting this because i've heard from a lot of people complains about this channel, some think the Opera browser's not bad, but that it should have an option like Windows IE, the use of tabs (i think this is what they call them..) for navigating more than one webpage in one window. Because it's so annoying to leave a page you're visiting just to check your e-mail or chat with your friends. I've seen some sites sending petitions to Nintendo, i don't know if it may work, if it does, the option will be available in a wii system update. What do you say? Are you in favor or against this? |

I personally find the browser a pain in the backside. Half of the time it's unresponsive. |

The Browser itself does have it's share of flaws here and there; tabs being the most notable one, of course, as well as some compatibility issues with certain websites, and a notable response delay occasionally. However, it is also the most useful and most practical browser available on any console on the market, with the pointing and USB keyboard functionalities easily rivalling its use to any computer based application. Youtube is extremely popular for most users of the channel, and there has even been a website developed solely for the use of Flash games which take advantage of the Wii Remote itself (I believe it's called Wiicade). On the plus side, the Browser can easily be updated to correct certain issues or add new functionality; the addition of USB keyboard functionality was done this way, after all. Ultimately however, it is Nintendo's decision as to what is allowed in the browser itself... so, it's another oddball situation. :\ For the record, online petitions NEVER work.... |

Agreed. I myself have used several handheld/console browsers, and by far, the Wii's browser is the easiest to use. The point and click styled browsing tossess it way above most other console browsers. There are flaws, like stated, but I don't believe that they will cause too many problems in the future. Nintendo's been putting out updates periodically, fixing errors and correcting certain malfunctions, as well as allowing more input options, such as the USB keyboard. (Which I really, really need to get.) Overall, I do believe that it is a good browser. Wiicade and Knibble have games specifically geared/made for pointing and clicking, such as Double Wires, and are great time wasters. While the Flash Support needs to be updates, and certain pages still freeze, I find that the Opera Browser for the Wii is much better than alot that is out there. |

I'm a bit nonplussed with the Wii Internet channel. I found the text to either be way too small or in need of constant scrolling, and it caused my Wii to freeze once or twice. I guess because I have this laptop sitting right next to my Wii, there's little incentive to use the channel when a more efficient and quicker alternative is instantly accessible. |

For me, IC is the only way for me to see this website correctly since my computer monitor is severely outdated. Plus, if Sigurd (or whoever controls this site) makes me a moderator, this will be the only way for me to be online during the day. So far, IC is great. All it needs now is Photo Channel support and tabbed browsing to effectively replace my old computer for online purposes. |
