Is that the one where you put your miis in a contest for the best?

I got the channel the day it came out, and I must admit that I became utterly bored with it a mere 4 days after using it. This has been incredibly disappointing considering I still use the Everybody Votes Channel and News Channel regularly. However, the channel itself was really its own undoing.

First off, the very limited search functions in the posting plaza were quite off putting. Whilst I really liked the idea of giving a particular talent to your Miis, it simply fails to cater for the vast diversity of Mii creations out there. Extra description tabs such as "Cartoon character" or "Celebrity" would have made it a lot easier to find some very interesting and popular Miis. Heck, there isn't even a "newly Submiutted" search function. Plus, the whole idea of Entry Numbers is just more proof to the point that Nintendo have no idea how to create a user friendly interface in regards to the Internet. IGN-Matt was correct in stating that if you were really serious about using Nintendo's online functions, you would literally need a phonebook for all your friends. :\

Another disappointing aspect have been the judging and popularity systems. The former shows strong signs of a total lack of planning and thought put into it. 45 minutes after starting and about 60 presses of the "Swap" button, browsing through Mario Miis turned out to be more of a chore than a fun activity to do. If anyone has to spend that much time and effort to vote for decent entries, then something has gone seriously wrong, and personally, I won't be doing that again. Even seeing Miis were clearly NOT Mario, even female Miis, just made me shake my head. :| The complimentary photo was nice though. ^^

In terms of the latter though, the popularity system seems both unfair and broken. I have posted over 23 Miis, mostly original creations that, IMHO, are fair efforts, and have a mere 2 star rating. Meanwhile, a few people in the Top 100 charts with 5 star ratings have only posted 2 Miis, with only one having a 5 star rating. Simply having bucketloads of favourites seems inaccurate as well; why can't one give a Mii a rating out of 5 to highlight some of the better and more well crafted Miis, which are frequently ignored and shafted for terrible looking, overdone Michael Jackson Miis? :(

Granted, there have been some really stand out Miis that have gotten to the top, and rightfully so. Several people have also demonstrated very interesting and unique ways to create certain characteristics with the rather limited Mii Creation system, and that is truly heart warming and gratifying simply to see with my own eyes. On the whole though, Nintendo have clearly shown they have dropped the ball in creating a community of users to interact with each other in a decent manner, and the UI overall is counter-intuitive to Nintendo's "everyone can join in" Philosophy.

I look at past accoplishments on my Wii Message Board and I see a rather steep decline in my time there. Here are some reasons for that (I'll elaborate a bit more on what Toadsili said)

1. Entry Number System. Nintendo sure loves them numbers. I remember in 2005 (or 06, not sure) when NoA pres. Reggie Fils-Aime was talking about Microsoft and Sony were throwing all these numbers everywhere. Gee Nintendo, you took his word quite literally.

2. Broken Search System. Maybe actual name searches might help. And maybe that Top 50 list should only track the top 50 for the day and a new batch revealed everyday. How many times must I see the same Hitler and Jack Black Miis from a week ago.

3. Artisan Ranks. A bit unfair I must say. Almost everyone seems to suffer from the "Too-Little-Too-Late" syndrome where the very first people to download this channel are popular while everyone else is tossed aside. Sure, we can see the less popular Miis in the grab bag. But the amount of artisan combined with the randomness of the grab bag results in going nowhere. I still believe they should implement actual word searches.

Well, that's my two cents.

I think they need to really improve how you can create your Miis, get some clothes, more hair designs, eyes etc, you've get loads of Miis looking similar - my personal one looks a lot like the princess zelda ones, no individuality. Once they add more style options to the Mii creator area, then it'd be a little better.
