Shouldn't Nintendo bring out more of the rare VC games?

The VC games aren't being thrown out too well; Nintendo can do better than this.

Geez. I just can't believe how random Nintendo can be with their Virtual Console games they throw out every freakin' Monday. Everytime I go there, I mostly expect something rare to pop out. Sadly for me, I haven't seen any rare games lately, and it does disappoint me sometimes. Pac-Attack was so-so, but other than that, it isn't very rare. I was expectiing something better like the SNES Star Fox (or even better, the unreleased Star Fox 2 for the same system). Besides, they are already bringing out games that were never released before, such as SMB Lost Worlds, etc.

Such randomness these bozos have. Sheesh.

All the good stuff is reserved to their Japanese userbase, as usual from Nintendo.
Besides, most of the third party rare games must be too hard to release due to copyright issues, demand, etc.

Well, let's not forget that Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars was supposed to be released on the VC in 2007. Sadly, it didn't happen. Has Nintendo forgotten this game? I hope not.

Now, as for rare games, i'd love to see those rare games being released on the VC. And also more imports. I'd love to see more imports on the VC just as much as i'd like to see rare games too.

First and foremost, why would anyone have this expectation that rare "Old Skool" titles will be released on the Virtual Console on a regular basis? Surely this is just asking to be disappointed with whatever lineup they'll throw out there.

With that said though, Nintendo do need to step up the quality of some of their VC releases. Concerns over maintaining a consistent flow of good titles may seem rather difficult to maintain over the lifespan of the Wii, but there are a whole stack load of gems in the back catalogue available to them. Keep in mind, this is without having to resort to lame NES arcade ports or outdated trash like Urban Champion or Skate and Die. It's more than possible for Nintendo to up the quality, even by a small margin than what they're currently offering.

Second case in point, Nintendo themselves have no clue what to make of sales data from the VC. They pulled in around $35 million US worldwide in VC sales with around 7 million titles downloaded, yet they simply don't know if that's a success or a failure. Apparently, there are few signs to tell Nintendo how their userbase is behaving towards any release other than a Nintendo/Sega first party title, but even that should be enough to tell them that people want their classic gems. Alas, 3rd party support for the VC is disgustingly low right now, so it's not all Nintendo's fault for not having access to titles they haven't made.

With many more the more dedicated gamers having already filled up their Internal memory, Nintendo could easily be putting on some brakes to the system in order to extend the life support of their releases. This would enable them to maintain a more consistent profit margin without having to re-licence old titles again, as well as enabling lesser known titles to get some selling space. Really though, if Nintendo is so concerned about the success of "shadow titles", then maybe they should start promoting their Virtual Console a little more, or perhaps let people DEMO the game first. >_>
