So i seen your psn status, fret not, do.not.spend.30.on.hdmi

Alternately look here:

Where i got mine from, works just fine and just like a 50 dollar one you'd buy. Only drawback is its only available online, and it ships from Cali sooo.... Best 1 day it if you want it now. Also 6 feet is more than enough, i thought it would be short but i have plenty extra.

For real man. A hdmi cable is a hdmi cable. You can put a special name on it or color it brightly but it's still more or less the same hdmi cable. You should never really pay more than $10 for one.

Well, there are differences in HDMI cables. With earlier HDMI specs, the cables only supported HDMI 1.1 or 1.2 (you can Google what those differences are from HDMI 1.3).

1.1 is archaic, 1.2 sucks and 1.3 is standard these days. There's now the HDMI 1.4 spec which adds in support for an ethernet connection for supported devices (among other changes).

So now, with an HDMI 1.4 spec cable and applicable devices, you can pass HD video, uncompressed audio AND internet through one little ol' HDMI cable. Pretty awesome. But that's partly why your cable cost more, Gunz, you got a 1.4 spec HDMI cable.

Now, if you go and buy a Monster HDMI cable for 50 bucks for spec 1.3, then that's getting robbed. HDMI cables aren't like analog cables where quality of the build made a difference in signal quality. All you're really paying for potentially is how long the cable will stand up to wear and tear.

Happen to know how many kb/s of data a standard 1.3 sends at one time compared to a 1.4?

Btw, there is actually a difference between gold-plated and non gold-plated (obviously since gold is a good conductor and all electronics are is moving electricity across circuitry)

Off-topic soapbox about semi-related nothingness:

So the PS3 has a 3.2 GHz PPE, a cell (8 processors, 1 reserved for when needed,1 for the ps3 os solely, so 6 open processors that have been clocked to run at 4.0 GHz), and a RSX Reality Synthesizer graphics card. Amazing feat that took three companies, 5 IBM centers, 7 or so years, and 400 engineers to complete; yet we still have framerate drops in certain games. My question is this-

Is it really to much to ask to be able to 'upgrade' our PS3's GC... I mean, id spend the money to upgrade this bitch when new stuff comes out. Hell, id even put a Sandybridge processor on my ps3 if it were possible XD

Yeah there's obvious differences between 1.3 and 1.4 hdmi cables. But the price differences in a lot of these standard ones is ridiculous. A lot of People get ripped off.

As for the ps3 upgrade thing. If we could do that then they'd basically be pc's. Just think of all the money console companies like Sony make when they bring out a new console knowing we have to buy it to play the new games.

They'd lose a lot if we could just upgrade our ps3 via third party hardware which they'd see know money from.

Yeah, back in the day, I remember this whole "core processor" thing was a HUGE deal. I always make the sarcastic remark about our PS3s being nuclear powered...because thats basically what they were telling us in 2006.

Good to know Van, and yeah, Sony is trying to rip people...

The HDMI that I bought was a rounded cord, but they had another HDMI that was a flat cord with a different cable structure. Both had that same EXACT specs, yet the flat cord costs $10 more??

How long is your cable that you got Gunz? Because a 20 foot one is $17 at monoprice.
