1. What tips do you have for me to stop a cracking attempt?
There are several things you should know about keeping your board secure. The first
and most important is this: Have a SECURE password By secure, your password shouldn't be 6 letters. It should be 12+ letters and numbers intermixed. You should not use this password anywhere else. However, a secure password means nothing if you don't have a secure E-MAIL account. Your email is your life online. If someone cracks that, they could have access to all of your information online. More than one of your Invisionfree accounts can be cracked simply by gaining your email. Your e-mail and password are your first line of defense.

Next make sure you aren't the only admin. Have a second account with a long and complicated password and don't use this account unless you are cracked. On this note, do not EVER EVER EVER have another user in the ROOT admin group. Instead, make a new group and name it admin and add the admin there. Be warned, however that even though the person is not in the ROOT group, they can still do serious damage. That brings me to my next point, BE VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU MAKE ADMIN. If someone joins your board and asks to be admin, DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM. Instead, offer to make them a moderator. Again, be warned. even as a moderator, they can do serious damage.
Next, you can set options in the Admin CP to ensure your safety. When Setting up the warn system, ensure that your group can not be suspended. Also if you choose, ensure you're ghost account and any group that has a staff member you trust and have known for a loooooong time, are also exempt. Any staff who you don't really know, should not be exempt from suspension.
If you fear an impending spam attack, you can go to the Admin CP and set the option that forces all new registrations to be approved by you and limit one account per email. This will ensure that you have ultimate control on who can access your board.
These tips are the most important in securing your board. Make sure to look through the Admin CP for other options to use to secure your board.

2. What do I do if I think I'm going to be cracked?

If you believe your board is at risk, you should do the following: Demote any staff accounts that have been inactive for a certain period of time, ensure that your password is secure and that your e-mail address is even more secure. If you don't have a ghost admin account, set one up and make a random password and write it down on paper. If you really think an attack is imminent and you want to ride out the storm, turn your board offline and wait until you think it is safe to turn it back on.

3. What do I do if I know of a board that may be cracked?

You should notify the board's admin immediately and explain how you know. If you are staff at that board, secure your account and watch the forum every time you go online. Keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary.

4. What do I do if my board is being cracked while I am on?

GET TO THE ADMIN CP! Immediately get to find/edit/suspend user and demote every staff member you think has an account at risk and the account of the cracking admin. Turn the board offline, and secure your password and email. If the cracker succeeded in deleting data, send a support ticket.

5. What do I do if my board has been cracked?

If your board has been cracked, first try to see if you're admin account is intact. If it is, log into the admin cp and attempt to repair the damage. Send a support ticket detailing what data was lost and request a back up if the data is important.

6. What do I do if my board has been cracked and I have been demoted?

Register a new board. Go to the Admin CP and send a support ticket. In it, give the url of you're old board, and what information on what happened.

7. What do I do if my board has been deleted?

Follow the the same format as number 6.

8. How do I send a support ticket?

Go to your Admin CP. On the side with all the sections, find the top one labled Invisionfree Services. Under that category you will find Support tickets. Imput the information in the ticket and send it. Please be patient as the support team processes hundreds of tickets a day.

9. Do Security Forums really work?

Security forums offer to back up your css and posts manually. All this can be done by you. Security forums may offer ways to do this easier. But if they offer a way to restore your board or crack it or ask for your Admin Information, DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM. Never give ANYONE your admin information unless you are asked via a SUPPORT TICKET. Security forums are NOT OFFICIAL. They do NOT have any priveledge with Invisionfree. We are not responsible for anything they do to your board if you give them access. They cannot restore your board. ONLY BRANDON CAN RESTORE YOUR BOARD. No one else has the access or ability to do this.

10. How long will it take to restore my board.

Support tickets normally take 24-48 hours to process. Restoral tickets are sent to Brandon. He may answer it immediately or in a few days. He receives many many tickets only he can handle. Because restoral is free, it may take weeks before your board is restored. If you pay for restoral, it may or may not speed up the process.
We recommend that if you have a board with only a few members and posts, that you just start a new board.
