TOURNAMENT RULES 01) Tournament Format: Tournament is a single elimination tournament, unless there is an odd number of entrants, in which case a small round robin will be held, with the winners of each group advancing to a final. 02) Attire: A competitor may wear either a gi with ranked belt, or shorts and rash guard with some coloring based on rank. 03) Weight Classes: Submission madness is an openweight competition--men and women of all weight classes and ranks welcome. MATCH RULES 01) Tournament matches last one, ten-minute period of grappling, or until a submission is achieved. 02) Fights begin standing up. 03) Submission Madness is a submission only tournament; no points will be scored for takedowns or positions. 04) All submissions are legal. 05) No slamming is allowed. Slamming to escape submissions is an instant disqualification. Slams as a result of takedowns are subject to referee discretion. 06) No striking of any kind is allowed. 07) If there is no winner after ten minutes, overtime rules apply. 07a) Each fighter gets 3 minute, starting in the back mount position. 07b) The attacking fighter works for a submission, the defending fighter works to escape. After submission, escape, or 1 minute elapses, positions get switched. 07c) If one fighter gets a submission, the other doesn’t, that fighter is the winner. If no submission occurs in 3 rounds of overtime, quickest escape wins. SUPERFIGHT RULES Superfights will go by the same rules as the tournament matches, bar one exception: there is no time limit to a superfight, and thus, no overtime. The only way for a superfight to end is via submission. Edited by Cass Madrigal, Feb 17 2018, 09:27 PM.

THE OOC RULES (DUN, DUN, DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN) 0) Never be on fire. It's just generally good advice. 1) Don't be a dick. It's not flattering. Honestly, this one's about common sense--people know what's OK and what isn't, and I've been doing this long enough to spot what's dickishness and what's not. 2) If you sign up, then need to back out, no problem at all. Just let me know and we can figure out what to do from there. 3) Do the Thing! Submission Madness is intended to be an angled tournament, so roleplaying definitely isn't necessary, but definitely is encouraged. If you want to use the tournament to start something, be it a rivalry, forming a team, finding a training partner, whatever, please feel free to do so. Honestly, nothing would make me happier than knowing people got something out of these. |
