MyNetworkTV is having discussions with major network TV affiliates in the Lexington, Kentucky area about carrying WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown programming. The current MNTV affiliate, WBLU-62, isn’t available on cable and many fans can’t get their SmackDown each week. Some of the options that SmackDown may have in the area are local CBS and NBC affiliates as well as a return to the CW network in the area. We’re also hearing that this is going on in other parts of the country as well. WWE Superstar Mr. Kennedy and WWE Diva Eve Torres will be meeting fans and signing autographs at Taste of Soul 2008 in Los Angeles, California this Saturday, 10/18 from 1-4pm. Kennedy and Eve will be at the MY13 booth and there will be a SmackDown Your Vote! booth there as well for fans to register to vote. WWE’s WrestleMania and Night of Champions pay-per-views ranked #15 and #19 in Optimedia’s 2008 Sports Edition of Content Power Rankings. WWE’s rankings were attributed to merchandise sales surrounding the events, the buzz it receives from fans and their increased presence using sites like YouTube, MySpace and Facebook.
